Challenging this commonly held view, this is the first cross-disciplinary study to examine the current functional neuroimaging research into hysteria and compare it to the 19th-century image-based research into the same disorder. Paula Muhr's central argument is that, both in the 19th-century and current neurobiological research on hysteria, images have enabled researchers to generate new medical insights. Through detailed case studies, Muhr traces how different images, from photography to functional brain scans, have reshaped the historically situated medical understanding of this disorder that defies the mind-body dualism. 410 0$aImage$vVolume 209. 606 $aART / Criticism$2bisacsh 610 $aFine Arts. 610 $aFunctional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). 610 $aFunctional Neurological Disorder. 610 $aGender Studies. 610 $aGender. 610 $aHistory of Medicine. 610 $aMedical Research. 610 $aMedicine. 610 $aNeuroimaging. 610 $aPhotography. 610 $aVisual Studies. 615 7$aART / Criticism. 676 $a616.804754 686 $aYR 1600-YR 3799$qDE-Ofb1/22$2rvk 700 $aMuhr$b Paula, $4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01262458 712 02$aHumboldt-Universität zu Berlin$4fnd$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fnd 801 0$bDE-B1597 801 1$bDE-B1597 906 $aBOOK 912 $a996492064003316 996 $aFrom Photography to fMRI$92950925 997 $aUNISA LEADER 01203nam0 22002771i 450 001 RML0232260 005 20231121125658.0 100 $a20121121d1994 ||||0itac50 ba 101 | $aita 102 $ait 181 1$6z01$ai $bxxxe 182 1$6z01$an 200 1 $aAmbiente, economia, ecosistemi$eDai limiti dello sviluppo alla sostenibilitą (Appunti dalle lezioni di Geografia Economica)$fGiorgio Spinelli$gLidia Scarpelli 210 $aRoma $cKappa $d1994 215 $a92 p.$d24 cm 300 $aIn testa al front. : Univ. degli Studi "La Sapienza" di Roma : Dip. di Studi Geoeconomici Statistici e Storici per l'Analisi Regionale 700 1$aSpinelli$b, Giorgio$3RMLV147353$0485019 701 1$aScarpelli$b, Lidia$3RMLV147352$077836 801 3$aIT$bIT-01$c20121121 850 $aIT-FR0098 899 $aBiblioteca Area Giuridico Economica$bFR0098 912 $aRML0232260 950 0$aBiblioteca Area Giuridico Economica$d 53TER 304.2/19$e 53VM 0000002125 VM barcode:ECO859. - Inventario:2004. - Fondo:Sala consultazioneVM$fA $h19950518$i20121204 977 $a 53 996 $aAmbiente, economia, ecosistemi$91267392 997 $aUNICAS
