The status of biology in Kant?s system of science is often taken to be problematic. By analyzing Kant?s philosophy of biology in relation to his conception of proper science, the present book determines Kant?s views on the scientific status of biology. Combining a broad ideengeschichtlich approach with a detailed historical reconstruction of philosophical and scientific texts, the book establishes important interconnections between Kant?s philosophy of science, his views on biology, and his reception of late 18th century biological theories. It discusses Kant?s views on science and biology as articulated in his published writings and in the Opus postumum. The book shows that although biology is a non-mathematical science and the relation between biology and other natural sciences is not specified, Kant did allow for the possibility of providing scientific explanations in biology and assigned biology a specific domain of investigation.           . 410 0$aStudies in German Idealism,$x2542-9868 ;$v15 606 $aPhilosophy?History 606 $aScience?History 606 $aPhilosophy, Modern 606 $aPhilosophy 606 $aHistory of Philosophy 606 $aHistory of Science 606 $aEarly Modern Philosophy 606 $aPhilosophy 615 0$aPhilosophy?History. 615 0$aScience?History. 615 0$aPhilosophy, Modern. 615 0$aPhilosophy. 615 14$aHistory of Philosophy. 615 24$aHistory of Science. 615 24$aEarly Modern Philosophy. 615 24$aPhilosophy. 676 $a193 700 $avan den Berg$b Hein$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01226494 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484464703321 996 $aKant on Proper Science$92847823 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01692nam0 22004453i 450 001 VAN00285643 005 20250328025423.280 017 70$2N$a9789811984419 100 $a20250128d2023 |0itac50 ba 101 $aeng 102 $aSG 105 $a|||| ||||| 181 $ai$b e 182 $ab 183 $acr 200 1 $aMultiscale Multibody Dynamics$eMotion Formalism Implementation$fJielong Wang 210 $aSingapore$cSpringer$d2023 215 $axvi, 359 p.$cill.$d24 cm 606 $a70-XX$xMechanics of particles and systems [MSC 2020]$3VANC021390$2MF 606 $a70E55$xDynamics of multibody systems [MSC 2020]$3VANC028278$2MF 610 $aBeam theory$9KW:K 610 $aLie groups$9KW:K 610 $aMotion formalism$9KW:K 610 $aMultibody systems$9KW:K 610 $aMultiscale Modeling$9KW:K 610 $aRecursive expression$9KW:K 610 $aScrew theory$9KW:K 610 $aShell theory$9KW:K 610 $aUnified formula$9KW:K 620 $aSG$dSingapore$3VANL000061 700 1$aWang$bJielong$3VANV239595$01349077 712 $aSpringer $3VANV108073$4650 801 $aIT$bSOL$c20250404$gRICA 856 4 $uhttps://doi.org/10.1007/978-981-19-8441-9$zE-book ?
