Bastian Ebeling combines in this work synthetic polymers with inorganic nanoparticles from silica or gold. The first chapters offer a comprehensive introduction to basics of polymer science and the applied methodologies. In following chapters, the author describes in detail how he systematically tailored the polymers using reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (RAFT) for combination with inorganic nanoparticles. This work also unravels mechanistic, thermodynamic, and structural aspects of all building blocks and reaction steps. The method described here is simple to perform and opens up pathways to new sets of nanohybrid materials with potential applications as sensors, in energy conversion, or catalysis. Readers will find a unique picture of the step-by step formation of new complex nanomaterials. It offers polymer scientists a systematic guide to the formation and synthesis of a new class of responsive nanomaterials. 410 0$aSpringer Theses, Recognizing Outstanding Ph.D. Research,$x2190-5053 606 $aPolymers 606 $aCeramics 606 $aGlass 606 $aComposite materials 606 $aComposite materials 606 $aChemistry, Inorganic 606 $aAmorphous substances 606 $aComplex fluids 606 $aNanochemistry 606 $aPolymer Sciences$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C22008 606 $aCeramics, Glass, Composites, Natural Materials$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Z18000 606 $aInorganic Chemistry$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C16008 606 $aSoft and Granular Matter, Complex Fluids and Microfluidics$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/P25021 606 $aNanochemistry$3https://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/C33000 615 0$aPolymers. 615 0$aCeramics. 615 0$aGlass. 615 0$aComposite materials. 615 0$aComposite materials. 615 0$aChemistry, Inorganic. 615 0$aAmorphous substances. 615 0$aComplex fluids. 615 0$aNanochemistry. 615 14$aPolymer Sciences. 615 24$aCeramics, Glass, Composites, Natural Materials. 615 24$aInorganic Chemistry. 615 24$aSoft and Granular Matter, Complex Fluids and Microfluidics. 615 24$aNanochemistry. 676 $a530.41 700 $aEbeling$b Bastian$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$0860923 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910298635403321 996 $aSmart Nanohybrids of RAFT Polymers and Inorganic Particles$91921260 997 $aUNINA
