In light of this the author presents her own journey from practitioner to researcher as a lens. Her practice- based research has been a quest to "revision" memories, by creating filmic images that elicit memory and remembering. In so doing she has used a range of platforms: multi- screen video installation, still- framing the moving image and remixing found footage. Central to this research has been the importance of family storytelling and sharing, the relationship of the visual and memory, the agency of nostalgia and the role of aura, particularly evident in the re-appropriating of super 8 home movies into a variety of forms. Important to this is has been the relationship of the viewer and the viewed in particular the role of an immersive environment of viewing. Diane Charleson isa Senior lecturer in Media at Australian Catholic University Melbourne, Australia, and previously at RMIT University. She is a filmmaking researcher who began her career as a documentary maker. Her research explores a variety of visual methods to revision memories that elicit memory recall and personal storytelling. 606 $aTechnology$xSociological aspects 606 $aMotion pictures$xProduction and direction 606 $aCommunication 606 $aSociology$xMethodology 606 $aEthnology 606 $aScience, Technology and Society 606 $aFilm and Television Production 606 $aMedia and Communication 606 $aSociological Methods 606 $aEthnography 615 0$aTechnology$xSociological aspects. 615 0$aMotion pictures$xProduction and direction. 615 0$aCommunication. 615 0$aSociology$xMethodology. 615 0$aEthnology. 615 14$aScience, Technology and Society. 615 24$aFilm and Television Production. 615 24$aMedia and Communication. 615 24$aSociological Methods. 615 24$aEthnography. 676 $a791.430232 676 $a791.43653 700 $aCharleson$b Diane$4aut$4http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut$01225817 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484857803321 996 $aFilmmaking as Research$92846061 997 $aUNINA
