Some critics of traditional religious faith have dismissed the visions and voices attributed to biblical characters and saints as evidence of mental disorder. However, it is now known that many ordinary people, with no other evidence of mental disorder, also hear voices and that these voices not infrequently include spiritual or religious content. Psychological and interdisciplinary research has shed a revealing light on these experiences in recent years, so that we now know much more about the phenomenon of "hearing voices" than ever before. The present work considers biblical, historical, and scientific accounts of spiritual and mystical experiences of voice hearing in the Christian tradition in order to explore how some voices may be understood theologically as revelatory. It is proposed that in the incarnation, Christian faith finds both an understanding of what it is to be fully human (a theological anthropology), and God?s perfect self-disclosure (revelation). Within such an understanding, revelatory voices represent a key point of interpersonal encounter between human beings and God. 606 $aHearing$xReligious aspects$xChristianity 606 $aSpirits 606 $aExperience (Religion) 606 $aAuditory hallucinations 608 $bElectronic books. 615 0$aHearing$xReligious aspects$xChristianity. 615 0$aSpirits. 615 0$aExperience (Religion) 615 0$aAuditory hallucinations. 676 $a248.29 700 $aCook$b Chris$g(Christopher C.H.),$0135088 801 2$bUkMaJRU 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910348232403321 996 $aHearing voices, demonic and divine$92256140 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01351nas 2200433 c 450 001 9910896251203321 005 20260218110541.0 035 $a(CKB)5280000000203715 035 $a(DE-101)1143848055 035 $a(DE-599)ZDB2910764-7 035 $a(DE-599)2910764-7 035 $a(EXLCZ)995280000000203715 100 $a20171109a20069999 |y | 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur||||||||||| 181 $ctxt$2rdacontent 182 $cc$2rdamedia 183 $acr$2rdacarrier 200 00$aThailand MICS$emultiple indicator cluster survey : final report : MICS$fNational Statistical Office Thailand, National Health Security Office, UNICEF 210 31$aBangkok$cNational Statistical Office$dFebruary 2006- 215 $aOnline-Ressource 300 $aHerausgebende Organe variieren 517 $aThailand MICS 517 1 $aMonitoring the situation of children and women 517 1 $aThailand multiple indicator cluster 608 $aZeitschrift$2gnd-content 676 $a310 676 $a330 676 $a610 712 02$aThailand$bSamnaknga?n sathiti hć?ng cha?t$4isb 712 02$aNational Health Security Office$4isb 712 02$aUNICEF$4isb 801 0$b0206 801 1$bDE-101 801 2$b9001 906 $aJOURNAL 912 $a9910896251203321 996 $aThailand MICS$94227983 997 $aUNINA
