Conclusions, synthesis and future directions. 330 $aA book focused solely on Andean Cloud Forests (ACF) has never been published. ACF are high biodiversity ecosystems in the Neotropics with a large proportion of endemic species, and are important for the hydrology of entire regions. They provide water for large parts of the Amazon basin, for example. Here I take advantage of my many years working in ACF in Ecuador, to edit this book that contains the following sections: (1) ACF over space and time, (2) Hydrology, (3) Light and the Carbon cycle, (4) Soil, litter, fungi and nutrient cycling, (5) Plants, (6) Animals, and (7) Human impacts and management. Under this premise, international experts contributed chapters that consist of reviews of what is known about their topic, of what research they have done, and of what needs to be done in the future. This work is suitable for graduate students, professors, scientists, and researcher-oriented managers. 606 $aCloud forest ecology$zAndes Region 606 $aCloud forests$zAndes Region 606 $aBiotic communities 615 0$aCloud forest ecology 615 0$aCloud forests 615 0$aBiotic communities. 676 $a577.82 702 $aMyster$b Randall W$g(Randall Walton),$f1955- 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bUtOrBLW 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910484912803321 996 $aThe Andean cloud forest$92804051 997 $aUNINA LEADER 03103nam 2200649Ia 450 001 9910784214903321 005 20230617004306.0 010 $a1-281-36856-3 010 $a9786611368562 010 $a1-4039-8040-3 024 7 $a10.1057/9781403980403 035 $a(CKB)1000000000342839 035 $a(EBL)307928 035 $a(OCoLC)560470093 035 $a(SSID)ssj0000189535 035 $a(PQKBManifestationID)11173131 035 $a(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000189535 035 $a(PQKBWorkID)10157525 035 $a(PQKB)11646382 035 $a(DE-He213)978-1-4039-8040-3 035 $a(MiAaPQ)EBC307928 035 $a(Au-PeEL)EBL307928 035 $a(CaPaEBR)ebr10135709 035 $a(CaONFJC)MIL136856 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000342839 100 $a20040928d2005 uy 0 101 0 $aeng 135 $aur|n|---||||| 181 $ctxt 182 $cc 183 $acr 200 10$aLate postmodernism$b[electronic resource] $eAmerican fiction at the millennium /$fJeremy Green 205 $a1st ed. 210 $aNew York $cPalgrave Macmillan$d2005 215 $a1 online resource (255 p.) 300 $aDescription based upon print version of record. 311 $a1-349-52943-5 311 $a1-4039-6632-X 320 $aIncludes bibliographical references (p. Questions of this kind, which are as old as the novel itself, acquired a fresh urgency at the end of the twentieth-century with the rise of new media and the relegation of literature to the margins of American culture. As a result, anxieties about readership, cultural authority and literary value have come to preoccupy a second generation of postmodern novelists. Through close analysis of several major novels of the past decade, including works by Don DeLillo, Philip Roth, Kathryn Davis, Jonathan Franzen and Richard Powers, Late Postmodernism examines the forces shaping contemporary literature and the remarkable strategies American writers have adopted to make sense of their place in culture. 606 $aAmerican fiction$y20th century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aAmerican fiction$y21st century$xHistory and criticism 606 $aPostmodernism (Literature)$zUnited States 615 0$aAmerican fiction$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aAmerican fiction$xHistory and criticism. 615 0$aPostmodernism (Literature) 676 $a801 676 $a813/.5409113 700 $aGreen$b Jeremy$0488283 801 0$bMiAaPQ 801 1$bMiAaPQ 801 2$bMiAaPQ 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910784214903321 996 $aLate postmodernism$93858703 997 $aUNINA
