In this challenging work, John Greenwood demarcates the original conception of the social dimensions of cognition, emotion and behaviour and of the discipline of social psychology itself, that was embraced by early twentieth-century American social psychologists. He documents how this fertile conception of social psychological phenomena came to be progressively neglected as the century developed, to the point that scarcely any trace of the original conception of the social remains in contemporary American social psychology. In a penetrating analysis. Greenwood suggests a number of subtle historical reasons why the original conception of the social came to be abandoned, stressing that none of these were particularly good reasons for the neglect of the original conception of the social. By demonstrating the historical contingency of this neglect, Greenwood indicates that what has been lost may once again be regained. 606 $aSocial psychology$zUnited States$xHistory 606 $aSocial psychology 615 0$aSocial psychology$xHistory. 615 0$aSocial psychology. 676 $a302/.0973 700 $aGreenwood$b John D.$030142 801 0$bUkCbUP 801 1$bUkCbUP 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910457904103321 996 $aThe disappearance of the social in American social psychology$92463678 997 $aUNINA LEADER 01073nam 22003012 450 001 9910146225403321 005 20230828231124.0 010 $a88-7923-094-8 035 $a(CKB)1000000000279665 035 $a(ItFiC)it98641239 035 $a(MH)011326318-X 035 $a(EXLCZ)991000000000279665 100 $a20050504d1975 uy 0 101 0 $aita 200 10$aCanto residuale /$fGiorgio Pacifici ; con prefazione di Vittorio Stella ; presentazione di Italo Capizzi$b[electronic resource] 210 $aRoma $cCadmo$d1975 215 $a1 online resource (98 p.) 300 $aPoems. 676 $a851 700 $aPacifici$b Giorgio$0117712 801 0$bItFiC 801 1$bItFiC 801 2$bMH 906 $aBOOK 912 $a9910146225403321 996 $aCanto residuale$92438147 997 $aUNINA 999 $aThis Record contains information from the Harvard Library Bibliographic Dataset, which is provided by the Harvard Library under its Bibliographic Dataset Use Terms and includes data made available by, among others the Library of Congress
