This "mirror" offers a cross-section of the trajectories of the disciplines and professions that make up the Lebanese social sciences. It questions their historical formation and the practices of their actors, anchored in society and confronted with issues of empowerment and recognition. Its different chapters aim at giving back to the Lebanese human and social sciences their men and women, their times and places, their practices and their challenges. They mobilize the resources and tools of different disciplines, from social and cultural history to the anthropology of knowledge, from the sociology of science to that of intellectuals, and from geography to political science. Questioning the constitution of specifically Lebanese histories of knowledge, they also question the capacity of the national scientific community to master its research agendas as well as to update the critical vocation of knowledge. In doing so, the human and social sciences prove to be privileged observation posts of more general evolutions in contemporary Lebanon: the commodification of the world, the unequal international division of knowledge producing subalternization or, on the contrary, legitimization, the production and reproduction of norms, the instruction of hierarchies and inequalities, or even the mutation of the worlds of work.Sciences humaines et sociales (Paris, France)HumanitiesLebanonHumanities378.5692Raymond Candice1368957Hanafi SariCatusse MyriamNjHacINjHaclBOOK9910724330503321Un miroir libanais des sciences sociales3394969UNINA03203oam 22006015 450 99650866390331620240102230143.09783030583132(electronic bk.)978303058311810.1007/978-3-030-58313-2(MiAaPQ)EBC7186296(Au-PeEL)EBL7186296(CKB)26050279900041(DE-He213)978-3-030-58313-2(PPN)267808569(EXLCZ)992605027990004120230123d2022 uy 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierNuclear and particle physics /Wolfgang Demtröder1st ed. 2022.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2022.1 online resource (295 pages)Undergraduate Lecture Notes in Physics,2192-4805Print version: Demtröder, Wolfgang Nuclear and Particle Physics Cham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2023 9783030583118 Introduction -- Composition and Structure of Atomic Nuclei -- Unstable Nuclei; Radioactivity -- Experimental Techniques and Equipment of Nuclear and Particle Physics -- Strong Nuclear Forces and Nuclear Models -- Nuclear Reactions -- Physics of Elementary Particles -- Applications of Nuclear- and High Energy- Physics -- Solutions to the Problems. This introduction to nuclear physics and particle physics provides an accessible and clear treatment of the fundamentals. Starting with the structure of nuclei and explaining instability of nuclei, this textbook enables the reader to understand all basics in nuclear physics. The text is written from the experimental physics point of view, giving numerous real-life examples and applications of nuclear forces in modern technology. This highly motivating presentation deepens the reader's knowledge in a very accessible way. The second part of the text gives a concise introduction to elementary particle physics, again together with applications and instrumentation. Nuclear fusion, fission, radionuclides in medicine and particle accelerators are amongst the many examples explained in detail. Numerous problems with solutions are perfect for self-study.Undergraduate Lecture Notes in Physics,2192-4805Nuclear physicsElementary particles (Physics)Quantum field theoryParticle acceleratorsNuclear and Particle PhysicsElementary Particles, Quantum Field TheoryAccelerator PhysicsNuclear physics.Elementary particles (Physics).Quantum field theory.Particle accelerators.Nuclear and Particle Physics.Elementary Particles, Quantum Field Theory.Accelerator Physics.539.72Demtröder W.46210MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQ996508663903316Nuclear and Particle Physics3004766UNISA
