WE SLEPT HERE is a case study in vulnerability and honesty. In this sequence of memoir-esque poems, Sierra DeMulder pulls at the threads of a past abusive relationship and the long road to forgiveness. The poems themselves become an act of recovery and reclamation, wherein the poet finds again the voice which was taken from her. These are hard poems, made up of clarity and healing, which attempt to share some of their peace with the world.Poetry (Poetic Works By One Author)PoetryDeMulder Sierra1437634BOOK9910162722703321We Slept Here3598308UNINA03653nam 2200673Ia 450 991097215560332120200520144314.09781438422886143842288197805850786630585078661(CKB)111004366790402(OCoLC)42856099(CaPaEBR)ebrary10588687(SSID)ssj0000113855(PQKBManifestationID)11133774(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000113855(PQKBWorkID)10102101(PQKB)10093466(MdBmJHUP)muse13877(Au-PeEL)EBL3408139(CaPaEBR)ebr10588687(OCoLC)923414492(MiAaPQ)EBC3408139(DE-B1597)736203(DE-B1597)9781438422886(Perlego)2671616(EXLCZ)9911100436679040219900725d1992 uy 0engurcn|||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierThe books of contemplation medieval Jewish mystical sources /Mark VermanAlbany State University of New York Pressc19921 online resource (viii, 270 pages)SUNY series in JudaicaIncludes passages in Hebrew.9780791407196 0791407195 Includes bibliographical references (p. 249-252) and index.Front Matter -- Title Page -- Half Title Page -- Copyright Page -- Dedication Page -- Table of Contents -- Preface -- ACKNOWLEDGMENTS -- Content -- INTRODUCTION TO THE BOOK OF CONTEMPLATION, THE FOUNTAIN OF WISDOM, AND THE BOOK OF UNITY -- THE BOOKS OF CONTEMPLATION AND THE FOUNTAIN OF WISDOM -- COSMOLOGICAL THEORIES OF THE "CIRCLE OF CONTEMPLATION -- HISTORICAL DIMENSIONS -- HISTORICAL CONNECTIONS -- Back Matter -- APPENDIX I: CONTEMPLATION'S SUBTEXTS -- APPENDIX II: TEXTUAL RELATIONSHIPS -- SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY -- INDEX.The earliest medieval Jewish mystical writings, or kabbalah, date from the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries. This is the first book to focus on the most prodigious group active at that time-the 'Circle of Contemplation'.The 'Circle of Contemplation' generated a mystical theology that differs radically from mainstream kabbalistic theosophy. Two of this group's penetrating speculations on God and the origins of the universe are The Book of Contemplation and The Fountain of Wisdom. A meticulous and systematic study of these writings forms the core of this book.Verman discovered that the 'Circle of Contemplation' produced a series of distinct treatises, each entitled The Book of Contemplation and attributed to the same fictitious author. These treatises, embodying one of the most intriguing puzzles of medieval literature, are included here. The author concludes that these writings were a product of thirteenth-century Spain, not France, as claimed by Gershom Scholem. His conclusion engendered a critical evaluation of the premises of Scholem's historiography of early medieval Jewish mysticism.CabalaHistoryMysticismJudaismHistoryJudaismHistoryMedieval and early modern period, 425-1789CabalaHistory.MysticismJudaismHistory.JudaismHistory296.1/6Verman Mark1949-1800828MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910972155603321The books of contemplation4345778UNINA
