Although it is customary to view Judaism as a legalistic faith leaving little room for free thought or individual expression, Kenneth Seeskin argues that this view is wrong. Where some see the essence of the religion as strict obedience to divine commands, Seeskin claims that God does not just command but forms a partnership with humans requiring the consent of both parties. Looking at classic texts from Biblical, Rabbinic, and philosophical literature, Seeskin shows that Judaism has always respected freedom of conscience and assigned an important role to the power of human reason. The book considers both existing arguments and presents its own ideas about the role of autonomy in Judaism. Clear and concise, it offers a refreshing alternative to the mysticism and dogmatism prevalent in much of the literature.Autonomy (Philosophy)Jewish philosophyAutonomy (Psychology)Religious aspectsJudaismJewish philosophersAutonomy (Philosophy)Jewish philosophy.Autonomy (Psychology)Religious aspectsJudaism.Jewish philosophers.181/.06Seeskin Kenneth1947-1475222UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910777354103321Autonomy in Jewish philosophy3741866UNINA02249nam2 22004213i 450 VAN027475420240619123327.934N978303057348520240411d2021 |0itac50 baengCH|||| |||||3.: First-Order and Time-Dependent PDEsAlexandre Ern, Jean-Luc GuermondChamSpringer2021viii, 417 p.ill.24 cm001VAN00333532001 Texts in applied mathematics210 New York [etc.]Springer74001VAN02747492001 Finite ElementsAlexandre Ern, Jean-Luc Guermond210 ChamSpringer2021215 3 volumiill.24 cm335-XXPartial differential equations [MSC 2020]VANC019763MF65-XXNumerical analysis [MSC 2020]VANC019772MF65N30Finite elements, Rayleigh-Ritz and Galerkin methods, finite methods for boundary value problems involving PDEs [MSC 2020]VANC021532MF35QxxPartial differential equations of mathematical physics and other areas of application [MSC 2020]VANC022881MF65M60Finite element, Rayleigh-Ritz and Galerkin methods for initial value and initial-boundary value problems involving PDEs [MSC 2020]VANC029157MFElliptic Partial Differential EquationsKW:KFinite element methodsKW:KFunctional AnalysisKW:KPartial differential equationsKW:KCHChamVANL001889ErnAlexandreVANV03704353623GuermondJean-LucVANV037044495925Springer <editore>VANV108073650ITSOL20240621RICAhttps://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-57348-5E-book – Accesso al full-text attraverso riconoscimento IP di Ateneo, proxy e/o ShibbolethBIBLIOTECA DEL DIPARTIMENTO DI MATEMATICA E FISICAIT-CE0120VAN08NVAN0274754BIBLIOTECA DEL DIPARTIMENTO DI MATEMATICA E FISICA08CONS e-book 8230 08eMF8230 20240430 First-Order and Time-Dependent PDEs4148909UNICAMPANIA
