Taking its title from Hamlet, the book explores the multifaceted forces that shape writing programs and the central role these programs can and should play in defining college education. Given the new era of assessment in higher education, writing programs must provide valid evidence that they are serving students, instructors, administrators, alumni, accreditors, and policymakers. This book introduces new conceptualizations associated with assessment, making them clear and available to those in the profession of rhetoric and composition/writing studies. It also offers strategies that aid in gathering information about the relative success of a writing program in achieving its identified goals. Philosophically and historically aligned with quantitative approaches, White, Elliot, and Peckham use case study and best-practice scholarship to demonstrate the applicability of their innovative approach, termed Design for Assessment (DFA). Well grounded in assessment theory, Very Like a Whale will be of practical use to new and seasoned writing program administrators alike, as well as to any educator involved with the accreditation process"--Provided by publisher.English languageRhetoricStudy and teaching (Higher)EvaluationAcademic writingStudy and teaching (Higher)EvaluationReport writingStudy and teaching (Higher)EvaluationElectronic books.English languageRhetoricStudy and teaching (Higher)Evaluation.Academic writingStudy and teaching (Higher)Evaluation.Report writingStudy and teaching (Higher)Evaluation.808/.0420711White Edward M(Edward Michael),1933-1029883Elliot NorbertPeckham IrvinMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910463729003321Very like a whale2446530UNINA02883oam 2200505 450 99646656400331620210618200641.03-030-62704-710.1007/978-3-030-62704-1(CKB)4100000011726368(DE-He213)978-3-030-62704-1(MiAaPQ)EBC6458927(PPN)253253217(EXLCZ)99410000001172636820210618d2021 uy 0engurnn|008mamaatxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierGeometric analysis of quasilinear inequalities on complete manifolds maximum and compact support principles and detours on manifolds /Bruno Bianchini [and three others]1st ed. 2021.Cham, Switzerland :Birkhäuser,[2021]©20211 online resource (X, 286 p. 1 illus.) Motivated by examples arising, among others, from the theory of submanifolds, the authors study classes of coercive elliptic differential inequalities on domains of a manifold M with very general nonlinearities depending on the variable x, on the solution u and on its gradient. The book highlights the mean curvature operator and its variants, and investigates the validity of strong maximum principles, compact support principles and Liouville type theorems. In particular, it identifies sharp thresholds involving curvatures or volume growth of geodesic balls in M to guarantee the above properties under appropriate Keller-Osserman type conditions, which are investigated in detail throughout the book, and discusses the geometric reasons behind the existence of such thresholds. Further, the book also provides a unified review of recent results in the literature, and creates a bridge with geometry by studying the validity of weak and strong maximum principles at infinity, in the spirit of Omori-Yau’s Hessian and Laplacian principles and subsequent improvements.Frontiers in Mathematics,1660-8046Riemannian manifoldsGeometric analysisDifferential equations, EllipticRiemannian manifolds.Geometric analysis.Differential equations, Elliptic.516.373Bianchini Bruno1958-1124954MiAaPQMiAaPQUtOrBLWBOOK996466564003316Geometric analysis of quasilinear inequalities on complete manifolds2830646UNISA01076nam a22002415i 4500991000703769707536041216s2003 it 100 0 ita d8814107769b13260315-39ule_instDip.to Studi Giuridiciita341.76La giustizia penale nella Convenzione :la tutela degli interessi finanziari e dell'ambiente nell'Unione europea /a cura di Francesca RuggieriMilano :Giuffrè ;Bruxelles (B) :Bruylant,2003viii, 273 p. ;24 cmUniversità degli studi dell'Insubria della Facoltà di giurisprudenza ;9Ambiente naturaleTutelaDiritto comunitarioCongressiComo2003 Ruggieri, Francesca.b1326031502-04-1415-12-04991000703769707536LE027 341.76 RUG01.0112027000074730le027-E30.00-l- 05650.i1396637616-12-04Giustizia penale nella convenzione747956UNISALENTOle02716-12-04ma -itait 30
