The essays are linked by the conviction that one of the most significant developments in recent scientific historiography consists in its insistence that the relations between science, culture and history be understood and examined reciprocally. Not only does scientific practice take place under conditions shaped by social and cultural forces; it also generates and necessitates its own specific patterns of cultural, social and political activity. Sciences which have evolved into significant social systems produce their own cultures and politics. Through discussion of the common origin of scientific knowledge and the cultures and politics of research, this volume hopes to make a contribution toward a better understanding of the roles of scientific research from its inception in the 17th century up to the dramatic upheavals in the 20th century. With articles by Lorraine Daston, Sven Dierig, Moritz Epple, Evelyn Fox Keller, Mary Jo Nye , Dominique Pestre, Hans-Jörg Rheinberger, Simon Schaffer, Friedrich Steinle, Catherine Wilson, Norton M. Wise and Claus Zittel. Jahrhunderts. They attend to the need to establish open, respectful verbal and non-verbal communication, a trusting relationship, a shared language, and a commitment to examining unconscious conflict in the supervisory encounter as well as the patient-therapist dynamics. The contributors show how the supervisor makes room for the supervisee to express her anxieties without becoming her therapist, thereby providing a model for empathic listening but within appropriate boundaries. They also describe the many ways in which the therapist's issues reflect or are triggered by those of the patient, are further reflected in the dynamics of the supervisory pair, and in the institution where supervisee and supervisor work. The contributors approach task, boundary, focus, and interaction in supervision from multiple vertices - research, analytic sensibility, group process, bodily and artistic expression, cross-cultural challenges, and individual teaching and learning in clinical supervision. A clear picture emerges of the qualities that characterize the good supervisor for any psychotherapist. The volume concludes with a list of further reading for those who must educate themselves and those who are inspired to establish a course or training program in analytic psychotherapy supervision."--Publisher's website.New Library of PsychoanalysisPsychoanalysisSocial aspectsPsychotherapyPhysiological aspectsHEALTH & FITNESSDiseasesGeneralbisacshMEDICALClinical MedicinebisacshPsychotherapistsSupervision offast(OCoLC)fst01081750PsychotherapyStudy and teachingfast(OCoLC)fst01081806PsychoanalysisSocial aspects.PsychotherapyPhysiological aspects.HEALTH & FITNESSDiseasesGeneral.MEDICALClinical Medicine.PsychotherapistsSupervision of.PsychotherapyStudy and teaching.150.195Scharff Jill SavegeMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910818037203321Clinical supervision of psychoanalytic psychotherapy4072638UNINA02823nam 22006492 450 99658016730331620210409091224.01-78744-858-410.1515/9781787448582(CKB)4100000011766420(MiAaPQ)EBC6478438(UkCbUP)CR9781787448582(ScCtBLL)60fd0acc-9134-44fd-8c62-ea99e880993e(DE-B1597)674722(DE-B1597)9781787448582(EXLCZ)99410000001176642020210223d2021|||| uy| 0engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierAfrican literature in the digital age class and sexual politics in new writing from Nigeria and Kenya /Shola Adenekan[electronic resource]Suffolk :Boydell & Brewer,2021.1 online resource (205 pages) digital, PDF file(s)African articulationsTitle from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 26 Mar 2021).1-84701-238-8 Includes bibliographical references and index.Introduction : Kenyan and Nigerian Writers in the Digital Age -- Network Thinking : Literary Networks in the Digital Age -- Class and Poetry in the Digital Age -- Class Consciousness in Online Fictions -- Digital Queer : The Queering of African Literature -- Middle-Class, Transnational, Queer and African -- 'Ashewo no be job' : The Figure of the Modern Girl in the Digital Age -- The Erotic in New Writing from Nigeria -- Social Media and the Aesthetics of the Quotidian -- Conclusion : Connecting the Dots. The first book-length study on the relationship between African literature and new media.African articulations.Nigerian literature (English)History and criticismKenyan literature (English)History and criticismLiterature and the InternetOnline authorshipCriticism, interpretation, etc.fastAfrican literature.Kenyan literature.Nigerian literature.class consciousness.contemporary literature.literary innovation.new media.queer narratives.Nigerian literature (English)History and criticism.Kenyan literature (English)History and criticism.Literature and the Internet.Online authorship.820.99669Adenekan Shola1358412UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK996580167303316African literature in the digital age3368289UNISA02665nam 2200637 a 450 991096027460332120250827150326.01-62895-055-21-60917-133-0(CKB)2670000000185864(EBL)1810012(SSID)ssj0000626500(PQKBManifestationID)11377295(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000626500(PQKBWorkID)10658688(PQKB)11118576(OCoLC)794491318(MdBmJHUP)muse18514(Au-PeEL)EBL3338251(CaPaEBR)ebr10554584(OCoLC)923249624(MiAaPQ)EBC3338251(EXLCZ)99267000000018586420090804d2010 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrBattling to the end conversations with Benoît Chantre /René Girard ; translated by Mary Baker1st ed.East Lansing Michigan State University Press20101 online resource (257 p.)Studies in violence, mimesis, and culture seriesBased on discussions with Benoît Chantre.0-87013-877-4 Includes bibliographical references and index. The escalation to extremes -- Clausewitz and Hegel -- Duel and reciprocity -- The duel and the sacred -- Hölderlin's sorrow -- Clausewitz and Napoleon -- France and Germany -- The pope and the emperor. In Battling to the End René Girard engages Carl von Clausewitz (1780-1831), the Prussian military theoretician who wrote On War. Clausewitz, who has been critiqued by military strategists, political scientists, and philosophers, famously postulated that ""War is the continuation of politics by other means."" He also seemed to believe that governments could constrain war. Clausewitz, a firsthand witness to the Napoleonic Wars, understood the nature of modern warfare. Far from controlling violence, politics follows in war''s wake: the means of war have become its ends.
