The premise of this volume is that one needs to focus on the question 'What do Muslims do in terms of shari'a?' rather than 'What is shari'a?'. This perspective shows that the practice of Sharia is restricted to a limited set of rules that mainly relate to religious rituals, family law and social interaction. The framework of this volume then continues to explore two more interactions: the Western responses to these practices of shari'a and, in turn, the Muslim legal reaction to these responses.Law, governance, and development.Research & policy notesDomestic relations (Islamic law)Non-Islamic countriesDomestic relationsWestern countriesMuslimsLegal status, laws, etcNon-Islamic countriesLAW / IslamicbisacshIslamic law, sharia, family law, Islam.Domestic relations (Islamic law)Domestic relationsMuslimsLegal status, laws, etc.LAW / Islamic.340.115Alwani Zainabctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBerger Mariaedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtBerger Maurits S.ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbFoblets Marie-Clairectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbFournier Pascalectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbHussain Jamilactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLizzio Ayatctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbMoors Anneliesctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbNielsen Jørgen S.ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPossamai Adamctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbReyes Nathanctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbRichardson James T.ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbRohe Mathiasctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbRutten Susanctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSaeed Abdullahctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSinani Besnikctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbTurner Bryan S.ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbYassari Nadjmactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbZiaka Angelikictbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbDE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK996509960503316Applying Shari῾a in the West1956587UNISA
