Urban StudiesSOCIAL SCIENCE / Sociology / UrbanbisacshBig Data.City.Collaboration.Cooperation.Curating.Data.Democracy.Digital Media.Digitalization.Gender.Information Technology.Participation.Reallaboratory.Sociology.Urban Development.Urban Planning.Urban Studies.SOCIAL SCIENCE / Sociology / Urban.307.1216Weber Vanessa, authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1271599Ziemer Gesa, authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autDeutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)fndhttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/fndDE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK996500670603316Die Digitale Stadt2995552UNISA04487nam 2200673Ia 450 991077815660332120230721031608.094-012-0370-91-4294-8148-X10.1163/9789401203708(CKB)1000000000475318(EBL)556387(OCoLC)166342398(SSID)ssj0000129146(PQKBManifestationID)12002440(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000129146(PQKBWorkID)10078202(PQKB)11703739(MiAaPQ)EBC556387(OCoLC)166342398(OCoLC)712988658(OCoLC)764536387(OCoLC)847114738(nllekb)BRILL9789401203708(Au-PeEL)EBL556387(CaPaEBR)ebr10380456(CaONFJC)MIL988977(EXLCZ)99100000000047531820070511d2007 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrConstellations of the transnational[electronic resource] modernity, culture, critique /editor, Sudeep Dasgupta ; with the assistance of Esther PeerenAmsterdam Rodopic20071 online resource (182 p.)Thamyris intersecting,1481-1312 ;no. 14Description based upon print version of record.90-420-2119-5 Includes bibliographical references and index.Preliminary material /Editors Constellations of the Transnational -- Cultural Constellations, Critique and Modernity: An Introduction /Sudeep Dasgupta -- Diasporic Architecture, Whiteness and the Cultural Politics of Space: In the Footsteps of the Italian Forum /Joseph Pugliese -- “Here to Stay”: The Performance of Accents in the Work of Linton Kwesi Johnson and Lemn Sissay /Cornelia Gräbner -- Carnival Politics and the Territory of the Street /Esther Peeren -- Shadow Republic: The Concept of Place in Patriot Movement Discourse /Deborah Noel Kaplan -- Politics of Identity and Critical Judgment: Gesher Theater in Israel /Olga Gershenson -- Where in the World? The politics of difference, the possibilities of hybridity and the potential of multiple liminalities frame much discussion around the transnational dimensions of culture and post-identity politics. In this volume, the economic, political and social consequences of the focus on ‘culture’ in contemporary theories of globalization are analysed around the disparate fields of architecture, museum discourse, satellite television, dub poetry, carnival and sub-national theatre. The discourses of hybridity, diaspora, cultural difference minoritization are critically interrogated and engaged with through close analysis of cultural objects and practices. The essays thus intervene in the debate around modernity, globalization and cultural politics, and the volume as a whole provides a critical constellation through which the complexity of transnational culture can be framed. Thinking through the particular, the essays limn the absent universality of forms of capitalist globalization and the volume as a whole provides multiple perspectives from which to enter the singular modernity of our times in all its complexity.Thamyris intersecting ;no. 14.Culture diffusionInternational relations and cultureRepresentation (Philosophy)TransnationalismCulture diffusion.International relations and culture.Representation (Philosophy)Transnationalism.148Dasgupta Sudeep1566366Peeren Esther1097750MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910778156603321Constellations of the transnational3836814UNINA
