Theoretischer, praktischer und ästhetischer Gemeinsinn werden erstmals spezifisch identifiziert und neuartig im Sinne Kants systematisiert. Im gemeinen Verstand findet sich die Tendenz vom Aposteriori zum Apriori – hier vermittelt Intersubjektivität –, umgekehrt findet sich mit dem moralischen Gefühl ein Niederschlag der Intellektualität in der Sinnlichkeit – hier vermittelt Intrasubjektivität. Nur durch beide Richtungen kann das sinnlich-vernünftige Wesen seine Intellektualität verwirklichen. Die Linien treffen sich im ästhetischen sensus communis, der die intrasubjektive Harmonisierung von Sinnlichkeit und Intellektualität mit der intersubjektiven Mitteilbarkeit kondensiert.
