ConclusionThe paper shows that Asia's degree of financial integration, both with the world and within the region remains low by various measures. The paper also provides empirical evidence that greater financial integration can support economic rebalancing in statistically meaningful ways. The implication is that in the debate on managing capital inflows the longer-term benefits of financial openness for broader-based growth should not be forgotten.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2011/243Capital movementsAsiaExports and ImportsimfFinance: GeneralimfForeign ExchangeimfMacroeconomics: Consumption, Saving, Production, Employment and Investment: OtherimfFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyimfFinancial Economics: GeneralimfGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)imfCurrent Account AdjustmentimfShort-term Capital MovementsimfInternational InvestmentimfLong-term Capital MovementsimfFinanceimfCurrencyimfForeign exchangeimfFinancial integrationimfPortfolio investmentimfForeign direct investmentimfFinancial sector developmentimfExchange ratesimfFinancial marketsimfBalance of paymentsimfInternational financeimfPortfolio managementimfInvestments, ForeignimfFinancial services industryimfAsiaEconomic integrationAsiaForeign economic relationsHong Kong Special Administrative Region, People's Republic of ChinaimfCapital movementsExports and ImportsFinance: GeneralForeign ExchangeMacroeconomics: Consumption, Saving, Production, Employment and Investment: OtherFinancial Markets and the MacroeconomyFinancial Economics: GeneralGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)Current Account AdjustmentShort-term Capital MovementsInternational InvestmentLong-term Capital MovementsFinanceCurrencyForeign exchangeFinancial integrationPortfolio investmentForeign direct investmentFinancial sector developmentExchange ratesFinancial marketsBalance of paymentsInternational financePortfolio managementInvestments, ForeignFinancial services industryUnteroberdoerster Olaf1543192Pongsaparn Runchana1543193International Monetary Fund.DcWaIMFBOOK9910779270403321Financial Integration and Rebalancing in Asia3796522UNINA
