The 26 revised papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from 96 submissions. They represent the current state of the art of the research in the field of the design, analysis and development of distributed and real-time systems.Theoretical Computer Science and General Issues,2512-2029 ;7109Computer networksAlgorithmsComputer science—MathematicsDiscrete mathematicsSoftware engineeringArtificial intelligenceComputer Communication NetworksAlgorithmsDiscrete Mathematics in Computer ScienceSoftware EngineeringArtificial IntelligenceSymbolic and Algebraic ManipulationComputer networks.Algorithms.Computer science—Mathematics.Discrete mathematics.Software engineering.Artificial intelligence.Computer Communication Networks.Algorithms.Discrete Mathematics in Computer Science.Software Engineering.Artificial Intelligence.Symbolic and Algebraic Manipulation.QA76.9.D5Fernández Anta Antonioedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtLipari Giuseppeedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtRoy Matthieuedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtOPODIS (Conference)MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK996465975303316Principles of Distributed Systems772112UNISA04482nam 22007335 450 991052291290332120240925160910.09783030910730(electronic bk.)978303091072310.1007/978-3-030-91073-0(PPN)276156773(MiAaPQ)EBC6840179(Au-PeEL)EBL6840179(CKB)20443414900041(OCoLC)1291316144(DE-He213)978-3-030-91073-0(EXLCZ)992044341490004120220103d2022 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierCovid-19, State-Power and Society in Europe Focus on Western Balkans /by Neven Andjelic1st ed. 2022.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2022.1 online resource (200 pages)European Union and its Neighbours in a Globalized World,2524-8936 ;5Includes index.Print version: Andjelic, Neven Covid-19, State-Power and Society in Europe Cham : Springer International Publishing AG,c2022 9783030910723 Introduction -- State of the Play -- Western Balkans: State, Society and Coronacracy -- Geopolitics and Regimes in Europe: Focus on Western Balkans -- Crisis of Liberal Democracy -- Populism and Securitisation of Minorities -- Conclusion. This book explores the current state of society in Europe in general and the regimes and societies of the Western Balkans in particular. The pandemic and near-universal lockdown have provided an ideal cut-off date for the collection of indices from reputable academic sources that cover the nature of these regimes, individual human freedoms, economic freedoms, the rule of law, human rights and media freedoms. The aggregated findings from the 20 individual indices provide comprehensive data to support original findings and the characterisation of societies in 45 European states. Admittedly, there are differences in the methodologies and samples among the indices consulted. Nonetheless, taken together they offer a solid basis for developing arguments concerning the diversity of regimes, governance and societies in Europe and drawing well-founded conclusions on the nature of society in various parts of Europe. Though the book’s main focus is on the Western Balkans, the region is put in a pan-European context. The issues of migration, minorities, global geopolitics, the crisis of liberal democracy – they all play into developments that are specific to the Western Balkans. The book answers the question of whether the pandemic has allowed local regimes to strengthen their power and exert greater control over society, making it possible to formulate arguments regarding the future of Europe and its integrative processes. In closing, the book investigates Western Balkan regimes’ reactions to the pandemic in the context of governance, society and state power, before addressing the question of whether the future of the Western Balkans lies in the “liberal club”, or whether local hybrid regimes will become even more influential in the near future.European Union and its Neighbours in a Globalized World,2524-8936 ;5Conflict of lawsConflict of lawsInternational lawComparative lawLawEuropeConstitutional lawEuropePolitics and governmentPrivate International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative LawEuropean LawConstitutional LawEuropean PoliticsConflict of laws.Conflict of laws.International law.Comparative law.LawConstitutional law.EuropePolitics and government.Private International Law, International and Foreign Law, Comparative Law.European Law.Constitutional Law.European Politics.320.9496327.40496Andjelic Neven948247MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQ9910522912903321Covid-19, State-Power and Society in Europe2588493UNINA
