This volume contains papers selected for presentation at this conference. The aim of this conference was to bring together theoretical advances and practical implementations contributing to, or being involved in, image and video technology. PSIVT 2006 featured a comprehensive program including tutorials, keynote and invited talks, oral paper presentations, and posters. We received 450 s- missions from 22 countries and accepted 141 papers among those (i.e., de?ning an acceptance rate of 31.3%). The intention was to establish PSIVT as a t- quality series of symposia. Decisions were di?cult sometimes, but we hope that the ?nal result is acceptable to all involved. Besides keynotes and invited talks, PSIVT 2006 o?ered 76 oral presentations and58posters,accordingtotheproperregistrationofthesepapersbythede?ned deadline. We deeply appreciate the help of the reviewers, who generously spent their time to ensure a high-quality reviewing process. Useful comments were provided by reviewers, often quite detailed, and they certainly o?ered authors opportunities to improve their work not only for this conference, but also for future research.Image Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, and Graphics ;4319Pattern recognitionMultimedia information systemsOptical data processingComputer graphicsInformation organizationComputer communication systemsPattern Recognitionhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I2203XMultimedia Information Systemshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I18059Image Processing and Computer Visionhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I22021Computer Graphicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I22013Information Storage and Retrievalhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I18032Computer Communication Networkshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I13022Pattern recognition.Multimedia information systems.Optical data processing.Computer graphics.Information organization.Computer communication systems.Pattern Recognition.Multimedia Information Systems.Image Processing and Computer Vision.Computer Graphics.Information Storage and Retrieval.Computer Communication Networks.006.4Chang Long-Wenedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtLie Wen-Nungedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtChiang Racheledthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtIEEE Pacific Rim Symposium on Image and Video TechnologyBOOK996465884103316Advances in Image and Video Technology772155UNISA
