Further topics covered include electric networks, the He–Schramm theorem on infinite circle packings, uniform spanning trees of planar maps, local limits of finite planar maps and the almost sure recurrence of simple random walks on these limits. One of its main goals is to present a self-contained proof that the uniform infinite planar triangulation (UIPT) is almost surely recurrent. Full proofs of all statements are provided. A planar map is a graph that can be drawn in the plane without crossing edges, together with a specification of the cyclic ordering of the edges incident to each vertex. One widely applicable method of drawing planar graphs is given by Koebe’s circle packing theorem (1936). Various geometric properties of these drawings, such as existence of accumulation points and bounds on the radii, encode important probabilistic information, such as the recurrence/transience of simple random walks and connectivity of the uniform spanning forest. This deep connection is especially fruitful to the study of random planar maps. The book is aimed at researchers and graduate students in mathematics and is suitable for a single-semester course; only a basic knowledge of graduate level probability theory is assumed.École d'Été de Probabilités de Saint-Flour,0721-5363 ;2243ProbabilitiesDiscrete mathematicsGeometryMathematical physicsProbability Theory and Stochastic Processeshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M27004Discrete Mathematicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M29000Geometryhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M21006Mathematical Physicshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/M35000MathematicsProbabilitiesDiscrete mathematicsGeometryMathematical physicsProbabilities.Discrete mathematics.Geometry.Mathematical physics.Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes.Discrete Mathematics.Geometry.Mathematical Physics.519.2Nachmias Asafauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut791278MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK996418262803316Planar Maps, Random Walks and Circle Packing1768608UNISA03027nam 2200589Ia 450 991083042030332120230725030810.00-470-90164-01-283-05226-197866130522610-470-95004-80-470-90161-6(OCoLC)716208794(CKB)2670000000077548(EBL)675234(OCoLC)716208794(SSID)ssj0000476980(PQKBManifestationID)11305770(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000476980(PQKBWorkID)10495907(PQKB)10488534(MiAaPQ)EBC675234(EXLCZ)99267000000007754820100812d2011 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrCivil engineer's handbook of professional practice[electronic resource] /Karen Lee Hansen and Kent ZenobiaHoboken, NJ Wileyc20111 online resource (746 p.)Includes index.0-470-43841-X CONTENTS; Preface; Acknowledgments; Contributing Authors; Contributing Editors; List of Abbreviations; Chapter 1 Introduction; Chapter 2 Background and History of the Profession; Chapter 3 Ethics; Chapter 4 Professional Engagement; Chapter 5 The Engineer's Role in Project Development; Chapter 6 What Engineers Deliver; Chapter 7 Executing a Professional Commission-Project Management; Chapter 8 Permitting; Chapter 9 The Client Relationship and Business Development; Chapter 10 Leadership; Chapter 11 Legal Aspects of Professional Practice; Chapter 12 Managing the Civil Engineering EnterpriseChapter 13 Communicating as a Professional EngineerChapter 14 Having a Life; Chapter 15 Globalization; Chapter 16 Sustainability; Chapter 17 Emerging TechnologiesA well-written, hands-on, single-source guide to the professional practice of civil engineering There is a growing understanding that to be competitive at an international level, civil engineers not only must build on their traditional strengths in technology and science but also must acquire greater mastery of the business of civil engineering.
