The central notion is a partition (an iterated decomposition) of a compact metric space. Via a partition, a compact metric space is associated with an infinite graph whose boundary is the original space. Metrics and measures on the space are then studied from an integrated point of view as weights of the partition. In the course of the text: It is shown that a weight corresponds to a metric if and only if the associated weighted graph is Gromov hyperbolic. Various relations between metrics and measures such as bilipschitz equivalence, quasisymmetry, Ahlfors regularity, and the volume doubling property are translated to relations between weights. In particular, it is shown that the volume doubling property between a metric and a measure corresponds to a quasisymmetry between two metrics in the language of weights. The Ahlfors regular conformal dimension of a compact metric space is characterized as the critical index of p-energies associated with the partition and the weight function corresponding to the metric. These notes should interest researchers and PhD students working in conformal geometry, analysis on metric spaces, and related areas.Lecture notes in mathematics ;Volume 2265.Conformational analysisConformational analysis.541.223Kigami Jun65976CaPaEBRCaPaEBRUtOrBLWBOOK996418195703316Geometry and Analysis of Metric Spaces via Weighted Partitions1768616UNISA04181nam 22007335 450 991086311360332120230810225227.09789811565878981156587210.1007/978-981-15-6587-8(CKB)4100000011515520(MiAaPQ)EBC6381073(DE-He213)978-981-15-6587-8(EXLCZ)99410000001151552020201022d2020 u| 0engurcn#nnn|||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierChildren’s Multilingual Literacy Fostering Childhood Literacy in Home and Community Settings /by Pauline Harris, Cynthia Brock, Elspeth McInnes, Bec Neill, Alexandra Diamond, Jenni Carter, Ufemia Camaitoga, Meresiana Krishna, Eleni Giannakis1st ed. 2020.Singapore :Springer Nature Singapore :Imprint: Springer,2020.1 online resource (xvi, 323 pages) colour illustrationsInternational Perspectives on Early Childhood Education and Development,2468-8754 ;319789811565861 9811565864 Includes bibliographical references.1 In Fiji -- 2 Language and literacy learning in multilingual settings -- 3 Conceptualising language, literacy and learning as socio-cultural practices -- 4 Research as transformative encounters in cross-cultural collaborations -- 5 Exploring stakeholders’ perspectives of young children’s multilingual literacy -- 6 In Duavata: Collaborating with children and families in an Indigenous Fijian semi-rural community -- 7 In Dovubaravi: Collaborating with children and families in an Indo-Fijian rural community -- 8 In Wavu: Collaborating with children and families in a culturally diverse community in an urban setting -- 9 Fostering children’s multilingual literacy in home and community settings -- 10 On effective community capacity development and sustainability. This book offers a comprehensive report on a three-year, cross-cultural, critical participatory action research study, conducted in children’s homes and communities in Fiji. This project contributed to building sustainable local capacity in communities without access to early childhood services, so as to promote preschool children’s literacy development in their home languages and English. The book includes rich descriptions of the young children’s lived, multilingual literacy practices in their home and community contexts. This work advances research-based practices for fostering young children’s multilingual literacy and building community capacity in a post-colonial Pasifika context; further, it shares valuable insights into processes and complexities that are inherent to multiliteracy and cross-cultural research.International Perspectives on Early Childhood Education and Development,2468-8754 ;31Early childhood educationEducationResearchEducational sociologyMultilingualismEarly Childhood EducationResearch Methods in EducationSociology of EducationMultilingualismEarly childhood education.EducationResearch.Educational sociology.Multilingualism.Early Childhood Education.Research Methods in Education.Sociology of Education.Multilingualism.372.21Harris Pauline856374Brock Cynthia H1740520McInnes Elspeth1740521Neill Bec1740522Diamond Alexandra1740523Carter Jenni1740524Camaitoga Ufemia1740525Krishna Meresiana1740526Giannakis Eleni1740527MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910863113603321Children’s Multilingual Literacy4166242UNINA
