In this concise, accessible book, he demonstrates how four exiled German-Jewish thinkers—Wilhelm Reich, Erich Fromm, Siegfried Kracauer, and Erich Neumann—confronted Nazism through psychological inquiry and how their interpretations help us to make sense of the cultural response to totalitarianism.” — Mark Clark, Kenneth Asbury Professor of History, The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, USA This book examines works of four German-Jewish scholars who, in their places of exile, sought to probe the pathology of the Nazi mind: Wilhelm Reich’s The Mass Psychology of Fascism (1933), Erich Fromm’s Escape from Freedom (1941), Siegfried Kracauer’s From Caligari to Hitler: A Psychological History of the German Film (1947), and Erich Neumann’s Depth Psychology and a New Ethic (1949). While scholars have examined these authors’ individual legacies, no comparative analysis of their shared concerns has yet been undertaken, nor have the content and form of their psychological inquiries into Nazism been seriously and systematically analyzed. Yet, the sense of urgency in their works calls for attention. They all took up their pens to counter Nazi barbarism, believing, like the English jurist and judge Sir William Blackstone, who wrote in 1753 - scribere est agere ("to write is to act"). Avihu Zakai is Emeritus Professor of History at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is also the author, most recently, of The Pen Confronts the Sword: Exiled German Scholars Challenge Nazism (2018). .ReligionWorld War, 1939-1945PsychoanalysisReligious Studies, generalhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/1A0000History of World War II and the Holocausthttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/717110Psychoanalysishttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H54026Religion.World War, 1939-1945.Psychoanalysis.Religious Studies, general.History of World War II and the Holocaust.Psychoanalysis.155.8943Zakai Avihuauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut947518MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910420925103321Jewish Exiles’ Psychological Interpretations of Nazism2233467UNINA01212nam 2200397 450 99104676631033211-78847-262-4(CKB)4340000000249043(MiAaPQ)EBC5314618(PPN)233405577(EXLCZ)99434000000024904320180321h20182018 uy 0engurcnu||||||||rdacontentrdamediardacarrierEthereum smart contract development build blockchain-based decentralized applications using solidity /Mayukh MukhopadhyayBirmingham, [England] ;Mumbai, [India] :Packt,2018.©20181 online resource (266 pages) illustrationsIncludes index.Blockchains (Databases)Distributed databasesElectronic books.Blockchains (Databases)Distributed databases.005.824Mukhopadhyay Mayukh966598MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910467663103321Ethereum smart contract development2193702UNINA01249nam 2200349Ia 450 99639718630331620221107213832.0(CKB)4940000000055739(EEBO)2240927396(OCoLC)11892487(EXLCZ)99494000000005573919850408d1699 uy |engurbn||||a|bb|A collection of articles, canons, injunctions, &c[electronic resource] together with several acts of Parliament concerning ecclesiastical matters, some whereof are to be read in churchesLondon Printed by Charles Bill and the executrix of Thomas Newcomb ...1699[4], 152, [3] pDrawn up to replace Anthony Sparrow's collection.Reproduction of original in Bristol Public Library, Bristol, England.eebo-0016Ecclesiastical lawEnglandEarly works to 1800Ecclesiastical lawSparrow Anthony1612-1685.1000994EAAEAAm/cEAAWaOLNBOOK996397186303316A collection of articles, canons, injunctions, &c2362330UNISA
