What makes one person's knowledge more credible than another's? In the ongoing debates over racial authenticity, some attest that we can know each other's experiences simply because we are all "human," while others assume a more skeptical stance, insisting that racial differences create unbridgeable gaps in knowledge. Bringing new perspectives to these perennial debates, the essays in this collection explore the many difficulties created by the fact that white scholars greatly outnumber black scholars in the study and teaching of African American literature. Contributors, including some of the most prominent theorists in the field as well as younger scholars, examine who is speaking, what is being spoken and what is not, and why framing African American literature in terms of an exclusive black/white racial divide is problematic and limiting. In highlighting the "whiteness" of some African Americanists, the collection does not imply that the teaching or understanding of black literature by white scholars is definitively impossible. Indeed such work is not only possible, but imperative. Instead, the essays aim to open a much needed public conversation about the real and pressing challenges that white scholars face in this type of work, as well as the implications of how these challenges are met.African AmericansStudy and teaching (Higher)African AmericansHistoriographyAmerican literatureAfrican American authorsStudy and teachingAfrican AmericansIntellectual lifeWhite peopleUnited StatesIntellectual lifeTeachers, WhiteUnited StatesEducation, HigherSocial aspectsUnited StatesEducation, HigherPolitical aspectsUnited StatesUnited StatesRace relationsElectronic books.African AmericansStudy and teaching (Higher)African AmericansHistoriography.American literatureAfrican American authorsStudy and teaching.African AmericansIntellectual life.White peopleIntellectual life.Teachers, WhiteEducation, HigherSocial aspectsEducation, HigherPolitical aspects305.896/073/00711Long Lisa A1033977MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910449943503321White scholars2452830UNINA01591nam 2200397z- 450 99632066270331620160818152923.092-9085-090-6(CKB)9870000000001226(EXLCZ)99987000000000122620140804c2012uuuu -u- -engrdacontentrdamediardacarrierThe emerging policy for green economy and social development in Limpopo, South Africa /Agnes MusyokiBonnFriedrich-Ebert-StiftungGeneva, Switzerland :United Nations Research Institute for Social Development,June 2012.iv, 16 pages illustrations ;30 cmOccasional paper ;eight"Social dimensions of green economy and sustainable development"."Produced in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES)" -- Title page verso.Includes bibliographical references (pages 14-16).Economic developmentEnvironmental aspectsSouth AfricaLimpopoEnvironmental policySouth AfricaLimpopoEconomic developmentEnvironmental aspectsEnvironmental policyMusyoki Agnes657826United Nations Research Institute for Social Development.Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.DLCDLCBOOK996320662703316The Emerging Policy for Green Economy and Social Development in Limpopo, South Africa2420693UNISA01601nam0 22003253i 450 VAN023823020220125025616.670N978113758529520220125d2017 |0itac50 baengGB|||| |||||Scandinavian penal history, culture and prison practiceembraced by the welfare state?Peter Scharff Smith, Thomas UgelvikLondonPalgrave Macmillan2017XV, 540 p.ill. b/n21 cm001VAN02380762001 Palgrave Studies in Prisons and PenologyVAN0238263Scandinavian penal history, culture and prison practice : embraced by the welfare state?2573064Diritto penale internazionaleVANC036646SGGBLondonVANL000015SmithPeter Scharff1971-VANV195268959420UgelvikThomas1977-...VANV1952691074477Palgrave Macmillan <editore>VANV108791650ITSOL20230616RICAhttps://link.springer.com/book/10.1057/978-1-137-58529-5E-book - Accesso al full-text attraverso riconoscimento IP di Ateneo, proxy e/o Shibboleth.BIBLIOTECA DEL DIPARTIMENTO DI GIURISPRUDENZAIT-CE0105VAN00NVAN0238230BIBLIOTECA DEL DIPARTIMENTO DI GIURISPRUDENZA00PREST E-BOOK SBA GIUR 00EBG238230 20220125 BuonoScandinavian penal history, culture and prison practice : embraced by the welfare state2573064UNICAMPANIA
