By examining the relationship of the iambic tradition with ritual, this book studies how Horace’s Epodes are more than partisan (consolidating Octavian’s victory by projecting hostilities onto powerless others) but meta-partisan (forming fractured entities into a diversified unity). As Horace moves through his iambics to lyrics ( Epodes to Odes ), he stages acts of aggression and retaliation along with attempts at resistance and reconciliation so that this shifting back and forth creates a correspondence between perspectives. Unity develops from diversity, polyeideia . This is the point at which Horace socializes literary criticism ( Ars Poetica ): societas becomes the telos of his poetics.Mnemosyne, bibliotheca classica Batava.Supplementum ;v. 334.Iambic pentameterIambic pentameter.871/.016,12ssgnFX 181605rvkJohnson Timothy S623110MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK996237250003316Horace's iambic criticism2717909UNISA01405nam2 2200325 i 450 CFI002445920251003044111.08842027316IT87-5732 20020204d1986 ||||0itac50 baitaitz01i xxxe z01nz01ncRDAcarrier2Romapolitica, economia, paesaggio urbanoIstituto Gramsci, Seminario di antichisticaa cura di Andrea GiardinaRoma \ecc.!Laterza1986509 p.ill.21 cm.001CFI00144272001 Società romana e impero tardoanticoIstituto Gramsci, Seminario di antichistica2937.0621937.06STORIA DELL'ANTICA PENISOLA ITALIANA E TERRITORI LIMITROFI. 31 a.C.-47623Giardina, Andrea <1949- >CFIV014459Istituto Gramsci : Seminario di antichisticaCFIV017545070298022ITIT-00000020020204IT-BN0095 IT-AV0007 IT-NA0070 IT-NA0120 IT-NA0581 CFI0024459Biblioteca Centralizzata di Ateneov. 1-4 01POZZO LIB.ECON MON 6217 0101 0070029735E VMA (002 v. 2B 2022070820220708 01 AV BU CR FC22896826UNISANNIO
