Church Planting II --Conclusion --Appendix --References --Index --About the AuthorThe Emerging Church movement developed in the mid-1990s among primarily white, urban, middle-class pastors and laity who were disenchanted with America’s conservative Evangelical sub-culture. It is a response to the increasing divide between conservative Evangelicals and concerned critics who strongly oppose what they consider overly slick, corporate, and consumerist versions of faith. A core feature of their response is a challenge to traditional congregational models, often focusing on new church plants and creating networks of related house churches. Drawing on three years of ethnographic fieldwork, James S. Bielo explores the impact of the Emerging Church movement on American Evangelicals. He combines ethnographic analysis with discussions of the movement’s history, discursive contours, defining practices, cultural logics, and contentious interactions with conservative Evangelical critics to rethink the boundaries of “Evangelical” as a category. Ultimately, Bielo makes a novel contribution to our understanding of the important changes at work among American Protestants, and illuminates how Emerging Evangelicals interact with the cultural conditions of modernity, late modernity, and visions of “postmodern” Christianity.Emerging church movementUnited StatesEvangelicalismUnited StatesElectronic books.Emerging church movementEvangelicalism277.3083Bielo James S.authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1047825DE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910480237403321Emerging Evangelicals2475691UNINA02738nam 2200469 450 991048503720332120210331101730.03-030-61516-210.1007/978-3-030-61516-1(CKB)4100000011569014(MiAaPQ)EBC6389893(DE-He213)978-3-030-61516-1(EXLCZ)99410000001156901420210331d2021 uy 0engurnn|008mamaatxtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierCzech women philosophers and scientists /Zdeňka Jastrzembská, Dagmar Pichová, Jan Zouhar1st ed. 2021.Cham, Switzerland :Springer,[2021]©20211 online resource (IX, 116 p. 1 illus.) SpringerBriefs in history of science and technology3-030-61515-4 This book examines the most important Czech women philosophers and scientists. It highlights the lives and achievements of a group that has often not received the recognition they deserve. Chapters provide a systematic description and critical evaluation of the impact these women had on the history of philosophy and science. After an opening chapter on the status of women philosophers and scientists in the period before 1820, the book explores the role women played in the 19th century rise of Czech culture (Czech National Revival). The following chapter then introduces the situation of Czech women philosophers and scientists in the 20th century. The authors base the material on analysis of key works and the characteristics of contemporary debates in which these women participated. The volume describes the complex conditions of women in Czech history in relation to the position of learned women in other European countries. The authors also emphasize their link to the historical background. This encompassing coverage helps provide readers with a richer understanding of these important women and the period in which they lived. Academicians and the general public alike will also learn about the political and social limitations these women faced and the influence of historical conditions on their work.SpringerBriefs in history of science and technology.Women in scienceElectronic books.Women in science.500.82Jastrzembská Zdeňka1227986Zouhar JanPichová DagmarMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910485037203321Czech women philosophers and scientists2850948UNINA
