Kelly, “ After thirty Falls ” is the first collection of essays to be published on the American poet John Berryman (1914-1972) in over a decade. The book seeks to provoke new interest in this important figure with a group of original essays and appraisals by scholars from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and the United States. Exploring such areas as the poet’s engagements with Shakespeare and the American sonnet tradition, his use of the Trickster figure and the idea of performance in his poetics, it expands the interpretive framework by which Berryman may be evaluated and studied, and it will be of interest to students of modern American poetry at all levels. What makes the collection particularly valuable is its inclusion of previously unpublished material – including a translation of a poem by Catullus and excerpts from the poet’s detailed notes on the life of Christ – thereby providing new contexts for future assessments of Berryman’s contribution to the development of poetry, poetics, and the relationship between scholarship and other forms of writing in the twentieth century.DQR studies in literature ;38.Poets, AmericanElectronic books.Poets, American.811.54Coleman Philip877608McGowan Philip1969-877609MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910452083003321"After thirty falls"1959666UNINA04287oam 2200685I 450 991079259930332120230207213514.01-136-97373-71-136-97374-51-282-58648-397866125864840-203-85204-410.4324/9780203852040 (CKB)2670000000018785(EBL)517110(OCoLC)630539376(SSID)ssj0000420788(PQKBManifestationID)11295582(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000420788(PQKBWorkID)10407339(PQKB)10551350(MiAaPQ)EBC517110(Au-PeEL)EBL517110(CaPaEBR)ebr10389434(CaONFJC)MIL258648(OCoLC)645070736(EXLCZ)99267000000001878520180706d2010 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrInternational journalism and democracy civic engagement models from around the world /edited by Angela RomanoNew York :Routledge,2010.1 online resource (266 p.)Routledge research in cultural and media studies ;v. 25Description based upon print version of record.0-415-83654-9 0-415-96110-6 Includes bibliographical references and index.Deliberative journalism. Authors from across the globe identify the types of journalism that might best assist or even drive deliberative activity in different cultural and political contexts.
