Its triple focus on key concepts, treatment and training modalities, and evidence-based interventions for challenging behaviors of individuals with IDD provides a solid foundation for effective treatment strategies, theory-to-implementation issues, and the philosophical and moral aspects of care. Expert contributions advocate for changes in treating individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by emphasizing caregiver support as well as respecting and encouraging client autonomy, self-determination, and choice. With its quality-of-life approach, the handbook details practices that are person-centered and supportive as well as therapeutically sound. Topics featured in the handbook include: Functional and preference assessments for clinical decision making. Treatment modalities from cognitive behavioral therapy and pharmacotherapy to mindfulness, telehealth, and assistive technologies. Self-determination and choice as well as community living skills. Quality-of-life issues for individuals with IDD. Early intensive behavior interventions for autism spectrum disorder. Skills training for parents of children with IDD as well as staff training in positive behavior support. Evidence-based interventions for a wide range of challenging behaviors and issues. The Handbook of Evidence-Based Practices in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is a must-have resource for researchers, clinicians, scientist-practitioners, and graduate students in clinical psychology, social work, behavior therapy, and rehabilitation. .Evidence-Based Practices in Behavioral Health,2366-6013Clinical psychologySocial workBehavioral therapyClinical Psychologyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/Y12005Social Workhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/X21000Behavioral Therapyhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/H54018Clinical psychology.Social work.Behavioral therapy.Clinical Psychology.Social Work.Behavioral Therapy.618.928588Singh Nirbhay Nedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910254689603321Handbook of Evidence-Based Practices in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities1732454UNINA03115nam 22006732 450 991096423640332120151005020621.01-107-11932-40-511-01679-41-280-42945-30-511-17286-90-511-15176-40-511-31083-80-511-49112-30-511-04954-4(CKB)111056485652504(EBL)153371(OCoLC)475872158(SSID)ssj0000176839(PQKBManifestationID)11182945(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000176839(PQKBWorkID)10205457(PQKB)10231694(UkCbUP)CR9780511491122(MiAaPQ)EBC153371(Au-PeEL)EBL153371(CaPaEBR)ebr10064291(CaONFJC)MIL42945(EXLCZ)9911105648565250420090302d2000|||| uy| 0engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierImmigration as a democratic challenge citizenship and inclusion in Germany and the United States /Ruth Rubio-Marín1st ed.Cambridge :Cambridge University Press,2000.1 online resource (viii, 270 pages) digital, PDF file(s)Title from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 05 Oct 2015).0-521-77770-4 0-521-77152-8 Includes bibliographical references (p. 251-260) and index.A democratic challenge -- Safeguarding liberal democracy from itself.Immigration raises a number of important moral issues regarding access to the rights and privileges of citizenship. At present, immigrants to most Western democracies do not enjoy the same rights as citizens, and must satisfy a range of conditions before achieving citizenship. In this book, Ruth Rubio-Marín argues that this approach is unjust and undemocratic, and that more inclusive policies are required. In particular, she argues that liberal norms of justice and democracy require that there should be a time threshold after which immigrants (legal and illegal) should either be granted the full rights of citizenship, or should be awarded nationality automatically, without any conditions or tests. The author contrasts her position with the constitutional practice of two countries with rich immigration traditions: Germany and the United States. She concludes that judicial interpretations of both constitutions have recognised the claim for inclusion of resident aliens, but have also limited that claim.CitizenshipUnited StatesCitizenshipGermanyDemocracyCitizenshipCitizenshipDemocracy.342.73/083Rubio-Marín Ruth556427UkCbUPUkCbUPBOOK9910964236403321Immigration as a Democratic Challenge985025UNINA
