This approach allows for both an in-depth analysis of individual texts and a discussion of material often left out or underrepresented in studies focused only on traditional literary material. The book engages heretofore unexamined writing by Rose Gordon, who wrote for local Montana newspapers rather than for a national audience; memoirs and letters of musicians, performers, and singers (such as W. C. Handy and Taylor Gordon), who lived in or wrote about touring the American West; the novels and films of Oscar Micheaux; black-cast westerns starring Herb Jeffries; largely unappreciated and unexamined episodes from the "golden age of western television" that feature African American actors; film and television westerns that use science fiction settings to imagine a "postracial" or "postsoul" frontier; Percival Everett's fiction addressing contemporary black western experience; and movies as recent as Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.Despite recent interest in the history of the African American West, we know very little about how the African American past in the West has been depicted in a full range of imaginative forms. Hoo-Doo Cowboys and Bronze Buckaroos advances our discovery of how the African American West has been experienced, imagined, portrayed, and performed"--Provided by publisher.Margaret Walker Alexander series in African American studies.American literatureAfrican American authorsHistory and criticismAmerican literatureWest (U.S.)History and criticismAfrican Americans in popular cultureAfrican AmericansWest (U.S.)Intellectual lifeAfrican AmericansWest (U.S.)HistoryFrontier and pioneer life in literatureAmerican literatureAfrican American authorsHistory and criticism.American literatureHistory and criticism.African Americans in popular culture.African AmericansIntellectual life.African AmericansHistory.Frontier and pioneer life in literature.810.9/896073SOC001000PER004030SOC022000bisacshJohnson Michael K(Michael Kyle),1963-1484506Halverson Peter D1484503MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910787627403321Hoo-doo cowboys and bronze buckaroos3703165UNINA01327nam0 22003251i 450 UON0035138620231205104342.965978-88-555-2918-120100127d2007 |0itac50 baitaIT|||| |||||Coniuratio CatilinaeGaio Sallustio Crispoa cura di Italo MariottiBolognaPatron2007718 p.22 cm001UON000872152001 Testi e manuali per l'insegnamento universitario del latinocollana diretta da Alfonso Traina92LETTERATURA LATINAUONC026272FIITBolognaUONL000085870Letteratura latina21SALLUSTIUS CRISPUSGaiusUONV063458154956MARIOTTIItaloUONV065064PàtronUONV265630650CRISPUS, Gaius SallustiusSALLUSTIUS CRISPUS, GaiusUONV141509SALLUSTIOSALLUSTIUS CRISPUS, GaiusUONV141510ITSOL20240220RICASIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOUONSIUON00351386SIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOSI T 2 SALL. 0101 SI MC 32924 7 Coniuratio Catilinae1224581UNIOR
