Furlan demonstrates that stories of the urban experience are essential to an understanding of modern Indigeneity. She situates Native identity among theories of diaspora, cosmopolitanism, and transnationalism by examining urban narratives--such as those written by Sherman Alexie, Janet Campbell Hale, Louise Erdrich, and Susan Power--along with the work of filmmakers and artists. In these stories, Native peoples navigate new surroundings, find and reformulate community, and maintain and redefine Indian identity in the postrelocation era. These narratives illuminate the changing relationship between urban Indigenous peoples and theirtribal nations and territories and the ways in which new cosmopolitan bonds both reshape and are interpreted by tribal identities. Though the majority of American Indigenous populations do not reside on reservations, these spaces regularly define discussions and literature about Native citizenship and identity. Meanwhile, conversations about the shift to urban settings often focus on elements of dispossession, subjectivity, and assimilation. Furlan takes a critical look at Indigenous fiction from the last three decades to present a new way of looking at urban experiences that explains mobility and relocation as a form of resistance. In these stories Indian bodies are not bound by state-imposed borders or confined to Indian Country as it is traditionally conceived. Furlan demonstrates that cities have always been Indian land and Indigenous peoples have always been cosmopolitan and urban."--Provided by publisher.American fictionIndian authorsHistory and criticismIndians in literatureCities and towns in literatureAmerican fictionIndian authorsHistory and criticism.Indians in literature.Cities and towns in literature.810.9/897LIT004060bisacshFurlan Laura M.1724906MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910814414703321Indigenous cities4127355UNINA04005nam 22007215 450 991088288990332120240822130300.09783031672606(electronic bk.)978303167259010.1007/978-3-031-67260-6(MiAaPQ)EBC31609556(Au-PeEL)EBL31609556(CKB)34145969600041(DE-He213)978-3-031-67260-6(OCoLC)1453195527(EXLCZ)993414596960004120240822d2024 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierElectron Waves in Solids Exploring the Foundations of Modern Technology /by Navin Khaneja1st ed. 2024.Cham :Springer Nature Switzerland :Imprint: Springer,2024.1 online resource (150 pages)Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences,2197-4179 ;203Print version: Khaneja, Navin Electron Waves in Solids Cham : Springer,c2024 9783031672590 Localized Electron Waves -- Bonding in Solids -- Phonons in Solids -- Electrons in periodic Potential -- Electronic Devices -- Superconductivity -- Electrons in Magnetic Fields -- Magnetism -- Imaging Solids. This book explores the intricate world of electron behavior within solids, revealing them to be waves—a fundamental insight crucial to grasping modern electronics, computing, and solid-state devices. This comprehensive examination elucidates the factors determining material conductivity, distinguishing between conductors, insulators, and semiconductors. Through detailed analysis, the text illuminates the thermal agitation of solids, manifesting as vibrations known as phonons, which impede electron flow and contribute to electrical resistance. Readers gain insight into the production of electronic devices through semiconductor doping, exploring various device types and their functionalities. The book further investigates the temperature-dependent behavior of metal resistance, including the phenomenon of superconductivity, wherein resistance vanishes entirely at low temperatures—a phenomenon comprehensively elucidated within these pages. Moreover, the text unravels the mysteries of magnetism in solids, exploring how certain metals, such as iron, exhibit permanent magnetism. By probing into the underlying causes of magnetism, readers gain a deeper understanding of solid-state physics. Additionally, the book explores imaging techniques such as X-rays, offering insights into how scientists peer inside solids to decipher their internal structures and properties. Geared toward scientists and engineers, the book serves as an indispensable resource for mastering the foundational concepts of solid-state physics—a discipline indispensable to modern technology.Springer Series in Solid-State Sciences,2197-4179 ;203SemiconductorsSolid state physicsMagnetismCondensed matterPhysicsAstronomySemiconductorsElectronic DevicesMagnetismStructure of Condensed MatterCondensed Matter PhysicsPhysics and AstronomySemiconductors.Solid state physics.Magnetism.Condensed matter.Physics.Astronomy.Semiconductors.Electronic Devices.Magnetism.Structure of Condensed Matter.Condensed Matter Physics.Physics and Astronomy.537.622Khaneja Navin1766164MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQ9910882889903321Electron Waves in Solids4209929UNINA01206nam0 22003011i 450 UON0032351320231205104150.367978-88-244-6432-120090511d2008 |0itac50 baitaIT|||| |||||Statisticadimostrazioni delle formulazioni analitiche, rappresentazioni grafiche esplicative, esempi su fogli di lavoro in ExcelCarla IodiceQuarta edizioneNapoliEsselibri Simone2008384 p.fig.24 cm.Dono dell'editoreIT-UONSI V ECONB/0336001UON001723232001 Serie Manuali210 NapoliESI43StatisticaManualiUONC034755FIITNapoliUONL000012IODICECarlaUONV184303382277Esselibri SimoneUONV265641650ITSOL20250606RICASIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOUONSIUON00323513SIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOSI B 0336 SI SC 45264 5 0336 Dono dell'editoreStatistica1371434UNIOR
