After his death, it achieved a wide dissemination throughout Europe in part because it was considered the theoretical manual on knighthood par excellence. The book was written in Catalan for knights who might not have a knowledge of Latin. Llull devotes his treatise to the definition of the duties of a perfect knight. In addition, he is interested in delving into the religious and moral aspects of chivalry as well as in trying to reform this institution. This edition is based on the Catalan text from Luanco's Libro de la Orden de Caballería del B. Raimundo Lulio, which is included here in facsimile format thanks to the generosity of the Reial Acadèmia de Bones Lletres de Barcelona. To this are added new Spanish and contemporary English translations. In addition, this volume includes an edition of Caxton's 16th century English translation"--Provided by publisher.IVITRA research in linguistics and literature ;Volume 8.Llibre de l'Ordre de CavalleriaLibro de la Orden de CaballeríaChivalryEarly works to 1800Knights and knighthoodEarly works to 1800ChivalryKnights and knighthood929.7Llull Ramon1232?-1316,389967Cortijo Ocaña AntonioMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910788273103321The book of the Order of Chivalry3677331UNINA04541nam 22006254a 450 99621052520331620240410075501.01-280-19883-497866101988321-4051-6648-70-470-99703-61-4051-4444-0(CKB)1000000000351844(EBL)233141(OCoLC)475939902(SSID)ssj0000113021(PQKBManifestationID)11127925(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000113021(PQKBWorkID)10111254(PQKB)11062135(MiAaPQ)EBC233141(Au-PeEL)EBL233141(CaPaEBR)ebr10158665(CaONFJC)MIL19883(OCoLC)936900622(EXLCZ)99100000000035184420040416d2005 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrThe Blackwell companion to religious ethics[electronic resource] /edited by William Schweiker1st ed.Malden, MA Blackwell Pub.20051 online resource (636 p.)Blackwell companions to religionDescription based upon print version of record.0-631-21634-0 Includes bibliographical references and index.Intro -- The Blackwell Companion to Religious Ethics -- Contents -- Notes on Contributors -- Preface -- Acknowledgments -- On Religious Ethics -- Part I Moral Inquiry -- 1 Reflection -- 1 Moral Theories -- 2 Moral Truth -- 3 Agents and Moral Formation -- 4 Ideas of Ethical Excellence -- 5 Practical Reasoning and Moral Casuistry -- 6 Authority and Religious Experience -- 2 Transmission -- 7 Text and Canon -- 8 Practices -- 9 Ritual -- 10 Saints and Exemplars -- 11 Law and Religion -- 3 Comparison -- 12 Norms, Values, and Metaphysics -- 13 Cosmology -- 14 Culture and Moral Pluralism -- 15 History of Religions -- 16 Comparison in Religious Ethics -- Part II Moral Traditions -- 1 Jewish Ethics -- 17 Jewish Ethics? -- 18 Foundations of Jewish Ethics -- 19 Ethics Differentiated from the Law -- 20 From Law to Ethics ... and Back -- 2 Christian Ethics -- 21 Christian Ethics? -- 22 Origins of Christian Ethics -- 23 Differentiation in Christian Ethics -- 24 Trajectories in Christian Ethics -- 3 Islamic Ethics -- 25 Muslim Ethics? -- 26 Origins of Islamic Ethics: Foundations and Constructions -- 27 Islamic Ethics: Differentiations -- 28 Muslim Ethical Trajectories in the Contemporary Period -- 4 Buddhist Ethics -- 29 Buddhist Ethics? -- 30 Origins of Buddhist Ethics -- 31 Cultural Differentiation in Buddhist Ethics -- 32 Buddhist Ethics: Trajectories -- 5 Indian/Hindu Ethics -- 33 Hindu Ethics? -- 34 Origins of Hindu Ethics -- 35 Differentiations in Hindu Ethics -- 36 Trajectories of Hindu Ethics -- 6 Chinese Ethics -- 37 Chinese Ethics? -- 38 Origins of Chinese Ethics -- 39 Differentiations in Chinese Ethics -- 40 Trajectories of Chinese Religious Ethics -- 7 African Ethics -- 41 African Ethics? -- 42 Origins of African Ethics -- 43 Differentiations in African Ethics -- 44 Trajectories in African Ethics -- Part III Moral Issues -- 1 Systems -- 45 Economics.46 Technology -- 47 Ecology -- 48 Nations -- 49 Global Dynamics -- 50 Religious Membership -- 2 Persons -- 51 Human Rights -- 52 Future Generations -- 53 Health -- 54 Body Culture -- 55 Religion and Religious War -- 56 Moral Development -- 57 Indigenous Peoples -- Standard English Usage Words -- Glossary of Basic Terms -- Index.Written by internationally renowned scholars, this Companion maps the moral teachings of the world's religions, and also charts new directions for work in the field of religious ethics.
