Conclusion --Methodological Appendix --NOTES --References --INDEXMost labor and migration studies classify migrants with limited formal education or credentials as "unskilled." Despite the value of migrants' work experiences and the substantial technical and interpersonal skills developed throughout their lives, the labor-market contributions of these migrants are often overlooked and their mobility pathways poorly understood. Skills of the "Unskilled" reports the findings of a five-year study that draws on research including interviews with 320 Mexican migrants and return migrants in North Carolina and Guanajuato, Mexico. The authors uncover these migrants' lifelong human capital and identify mobility pathways associated with the acquisition and transfer of skills across the migratory circuit, including reskilling, occupational mobility, job jumping, and entrepreneurship.Foreign workers, MexicanUnited StatesLabor marketEmigration and immigrationGuanajuato (Mexico)Emigration and immigrationSocial aspectsUnited StatesEmigration and immigrationSocial aspectsElectronic books.Foreign workers, MexicanLabor marketEmigration and immigration.331.5/440896872073Hagan Jacqueline Maria1954-1045355Hernández-León RubénDemonsant Jean-LucMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910464111303321Skills of the "unskilled"2471577UNINA05840nam 22008055 450 99646559960331620200702012313.03-642-02161-110.1007/978-3-642-02161-9(CKB)1000000000753993(SSID)ssj0000320110(PQKBManifestationID)11235199(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000320110(PQKBWorkID)10347434(PQKB)10000095(DE-He213)978-3-642-02161-9(MiAaPQ)EBC3064267(PPN)136306608(EXLCZ)99100000000075399320100301d2009 u| 0engurnn#008mamaatxtccrSoftware Engineering for Self-Adaptive Systems[electronic resource] /edited by Betty H. The 12 carefully reviewed papers included in this state-of-the-art survey originate from the International Seminar on Software Engineering for Self-Adaptive Systems, held in Dagstuhl Castle, Germany, in January 2008. They examine the current state-of-the-art in the field, describing a wide range of approaches coming from different strands of software engineering, and present future challenges facing this ever-resurgent and challenging field of research. Also included in this book is an invited roadmap paper on the research challenges facing self-adaptive systems within the area of software engineering, based on discussions at the Dagstuhl Seminar and put together by several of its participants. The papers have been divided into topical sections on architecture-based self-adaptation, context-aware and model-driven self-adaptation, and self-healing. These are preceded by three research roadmap papers. .Programming and Software Engineering ;5525Software engineeringProgramming languages (Electronic computers)Computer programmingComputer simulationArtificial intelligenceSoftware Engineering/Programming and Operating Systemshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14002Software Engineeringhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14029Programming Languages, Compilers, Interpretershttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14037Programming Techniqueshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I14010Simulation and Modelinghttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I19000Artificial Intelligencehttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I21000Software engineering.Programming languages (Electronic computers).Computer programming.Computer simulation.Artificial intelligence.Software Engineering/Programming and Operating Systems.Software Engineering.Programming Languages, Compilers, Interpreters.Programming Techniques.Simulation and Modeling.Artificial Intelligence.629.836DAT 310fstubDAT 815fstubSS 4800rvkCheng Betty H.
