Drawing upon three years of ethnographic research in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, Sandra Bamford describes a world in which physiological reproduction is not perceived to ground human kinship or human beings' relationship to the organic world. Bamford also exposes the ways in which Western ideas about relatedness do depend on a notion of physiological reproduction. Her innovative analysis includes a discussion of the advent of assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs), the mapping of the human genome, cloning, the commodification of biodiversity, and the manufacture and sale of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).Hamtai (Papua New Guinean people)EthnobiologyHamtai (Papua New Guinean people)AgricultureHamtai (Papua New Guinean people)PsychologyHuman bodySocial aspectsPapua New GuineaGulf ProvinceIndigenous peoplesEcologyPapua New GuineaGulf ProvinceEthnobiologyPapua New GuineaGulf ProvinceBiotechnologyGenetic engineeringGulf Province (Papua New Guinea)Social life and customsassisted reproductive technologies.biodiversity.biologists.biology.biotechnology.cloning.environmental impacts.ethnographers.ethnographic research.genetically modified organisms.gmos.human condition.human genome mapping.human impact.human relationships.melanesia.natural world.nonfiction.organic life.papua new guinea.physiological.reproduction.reproductive technologies.sex and culture.sexual reproduction.social science.western ideas.Hamtai (Papua New Guinean people)Ethnobiology.Hamtai (Papua New Guinean people)Agriculture.Hamtai (Papua New Guinean people)Psychology.Human bodySocial aspectsIndigenous peoplesEcologyEthnobiologyBiotechnology.Genetic engineering.305.89/912Bamford Sandra C.1962-1515392MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910784411803321Biology unmoored3762076UNINA01214nam0 22002771i 450 UON0012813820231205102745.12320020107d1974 |0itac50 baengIL|||| 1||||Corpus inscriptionum crucesignatorum terrae sancte (1099=1291)[testo, traduzione e annotazioni] Sabino De SandoliJerusalemFranciscan Printing Press1974LXIII, 351 p.28 cm001UON000455372001 Publications of the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum21EPIGRAFIA BIBLICAUONC012897FIILYĕrūshālayimUONL004472VOC XX AVICINO ORIENTE CLASSICO - EPIGRAFIAASANDOLISabino : deUONV028553649168Franciscan Printing PressUONV254623650ITSOL20240220RICASIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOUONSIUON00128138SIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOSI VOC XX A 004 SI SEM1624 7 004 Corpus inscriptionum crucesignatorum terrae sancte (1099=12911318360UNIOR
