Mollie Gross learned the hard way to laugh instead of cry at what she could not control as a military spouse-and as she quickly discovered, nearly everything was out of her control! A standup comedienne, public speaker, and wife of a Marine Corps officer, Mollie explores everything about the issued spouse, from deployment and the stress of having a husband in a combat zone, to the realization that marriage changes when your husband returns home from war. Nothing is taboo or out-of-bounds in Confessions, including the parties military wives throw for themselves before hubby returns. (You'll have to read the book to find out about those!) More than one million American servicemen have deployed to war over the last few years, which means the lives and lifestyles of military wives are now front and center in the public's curiosity. How do they live? What is their day-to-day life like? How do they interact? How do they deal with weeks and months of separation? The answers will surprise (and in some cases, shock) you. Confessions teaches all women, whether civilian or military, that they can learn to find the funny side of anything by embracing the situation and changing their perspective. And now they can do so with humor and levity, and a little wisdom. Evocative and provocative, Confessions of a Military Wife is a can't-put-down book that will leave you laughing and crying at the same time"--Publisher.Military spousesUnited StatesMarine Corps spousesUnited StatesBiographyMarine Corps spousesUnited StatesAnecdotesMilitary spousesUnited StatesLife skills guidesMilitary spousesUnited StatesHumorUnited StatesfastMilitary spousesMarine Corps spousesMarine Corps spousesMilitary spousesMilitary spouses306.808835500973355.1/0973Gross MollieMiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9911153102203321UNINA04203nam 2200601Ia 450 991114896540332120251017110054.00-309-16645-41-280-17663-697866101766320-309-52844-5(CKB)111087027010032(OCoLC)60365231(CaPaEBR)ebrary10051686(SSID)ssj0000114742(PQKBManifestationID)11131704(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000114742(PQKBWorkID)10125398(PQKB)10515791(Au-PeEL)EBL3564033(CaPaEBR)ebr10051686(OCoLC)54863693(MiAaPQ)EBC3564033(DNLM)1640984(BIP)53858615(BIP)10324225(EXLCZ)9911108702701003220040415d2004 uy 0engurcn|||||||||txtccrBridging the bed-bench gap contributions of the Markey Trust /Committee on the Evaluation of the Lucille P. Markey Charitable Trust Programs in Biomedical Sciences Committee.Since the 1970s there has been a serious gap between fundamental biological research and its clinical application. In response to this gap the Lucille P. Markey Charitable Trust instituted the General Organizational Grants program, which funded two types of awards to provide training that would bridge the bed-bench gap. These training awards fell into two categories: (1) those that provided significant opportunities for M.D.s to engage in basic research during and immediately following medical school and residency, and (2) those that provided significant clinical exposure for Ph.D.s while they were predoctoral or postdoctoral students. These grants were intended to close the widening gap between rapid advances in our understanding of the biological process and the translation of that knowledge into techniques for preventing diseases. This report examines the General Organizational Grant programs, identifies best practices, and provides observations for future philanthropic funders.MedicineResearch grantsMedicineResearch grants.610/.7/2National Research Council (U.S.).Committee on the Evaluation of the Lucille P.
