Death in a Church of Life paints a vivid picture of how members of the Baitshepi Church make strenuous efforts to sustain loving relationships amid widespread illness and death. Over the course of long-term fieldwork, Frederick Klaits discovered Baitshepi's distinctly maternal ethos and the "spiritual" kinship embodied in the church's nurturing fellowship practice. Klaits shows that for Baitshepi members, Christian faith is a form of moral passion that counters practices of divination and witchcraft with redemptive hymn singing, prayer, and the use of therapeutic substances. An online audio annex makes available examples of the church members' preaching and song.Anthropology of Christianity.AIDS (Disease)PatientsPastoral counseling ofBotswanaAIDS (Disease)Religious aspectsChristianityChurch work with the sickBotswanaAIDS (Disease)PatientsPastoral counseling ofAIDS (Disease)Religious aspectsChristianity.Church work with the sick261.8/3219697920096883Klaits F(Frederick)1953218MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9911090136103321Death in a church of life4711547UNINA01503nam 22004093 450 991111451980332120260423080313.0981-9559-23-5(CKB)46239108700041(MiAaPQ)EBC32690490(Au-PeEL)EBL32690490(OCoLC)1590082179(EXLCZ)994623910870004120260423d2026 uy 0engur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierIntelligent Systems for Sustainable Industrial Infrastructure Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Applications, ICISA 20251st ed.Singapore :Springer,2026.©2026.1 online resource (324 pages)Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems Series ;v.1783981-9559-22-7 This book presents the select proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Applications 2025.The theme of this conference is 'Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Industrial Infrastructure'.Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems Series006.3Kulkarni Anand J1368635MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9911114519803321Intelligent Systems for Sustainable Industrial Infrastructure4771983UNINA
