Race, Class, and Activism --Part II. The Third World Left --Notes --Selected Bibliography --IndexLaura Pulido traces the roots of third world radicalism in Southern California during the 1960's and 1970's in this accessible, wonderfully illustrated comparative study. Focusing on the Black Panther Party, El Centro de Acción Social y Autonomo (CASA), and East Wind, a Japanese American collective, she explores how these African American, Chicana/o, and Japanese American groups sought to realize their ideas about race and class, gender relations, and multiracial alliances. Based on thorough research as well as extensive interviews, Black, Brown, Yellow, and Left explores the differences and similarities between these organizations, the strengths and weaknesses of the third world left as a whole, and the ways that differential racialization led to distinct forms of radical politics. Pulido provides a masterly, nuanced analysis of complex political events, organizations, and experiences. She gives special prominence to multiracial activism and includes an engaging account of where the activists are today, together with a consideration of the implications for contemporary social justice organizing.American crossroads ;19.Radical activism in Los AngelesRadicalismCaliforniaLos AngelesHistory20th centuryRight and left (Political science)African AmericansCaliforniaLos AngelesPolitics and government20th centuryMexican AmericansCaliforniaLos AngelesPolitics and government20th centuryJapanese AmericansCaliforniaLos AngelesPolitics and government20th centuryRadicalismHistoryRight and left (Political science)African AmericansPolitics and governmentMexican AmericansPolitics and governmentJapanese AmericansPolitics and government305.8/009794/909047Pulido Laura276301MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9911092047503321Black, brown, yellow, and left1771794UNINA02760oas 2201009 a 450 991112022220332120260128110035.02165-0586(DE-599)ZDB2566432-3(OCoLC)271187777(CONSER) 2011273617(CKB)110975506071207(DE-599)2566432-3(EXLCZ)9911097550607120720081112a19889999 uy aengur|||||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierBioacoustics[Berkhamsted, England] A B Academic Publishers[Abingdon, Oxfordshire, UK] Taylor & FrancisRefereed/Peer-reviewed"The international journal of animal sound and its recording."0952-4622 BioacousticsPeriodicalsSound production by animalsPeriodicalsAnimal soundsPeriodicalsSound recordingsPeriodicalsAnimal soundsfast(OCoLC)fst00809395Bioacousticsfast(OCoLC)fst00831932Sound production by animalsfast(OCoLC)fst01127016Sound recordingsfast(OCoLC)fst01127034DierengttGeluidsregistratiegttBioacoustiquePériodiquesAnimauxProduction de sonsPériodiquesAnimauxSonsPériodiquesInternet resource.Periodicals.fastPeriodicals.lcgftBioacousticsSound production by animalsAnimal soundsSound recordingsAnimal sounds.Bioacoustics.Sound production by animals.Sound recordings.Dieren.Geluidsregistratie.BioacoustiqueAnimauxProduction de sonsAnimauxSons591.59405British Library.National Sound Archive.OCLCSOCLCSOCLCSOCLCQDLCOCLCOTXADLCOCLCQAGLOCLCFOCLCOVT2OCLCQDLCNLEUKMGBOCLCOOCLCQSFBAUDU3WOCLCQUABLVTOCLCLJOURNAL9911120222203321Bioacoustics2415622UNINA
