The Dimensions of Lawlessness -- Conclusion -- Bibliography -- Index -- About the Authors A critical examination of the wrongdoing underlying the 2008 financial crisisAn unprecedented breakdown in the rule of law occurred in the United States after the 2008 financial collapse. Bank of America, JPMorgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and other large banks settled securities fraud claims with the Securities and Exchange Commission for failing to disclose the risks of subprime mortgages they sold to the investing public. But a corporation cannot commit fraud except through human beings working at and managing the firm. Rather than breaking up these powerful megabanks, essentially imposing a corporate death penalty, the government simply accepted fines that essentially punished innocent shareholders instead of senior leaders at the megabanks. It allowed the real wrongdoers to walk away from criminal responsibility. In The Case for the Corporate Death Penalty, Mary Kreiner Ramirez and Steven A. Ramirez examine the best available evidence about the wrongdoing underlying the financial crisis. They reveal that the government failed to use its most powerful law enforcement tools despite overwhelming proof of wide-ranging and large-scale fraud on Wall Street before, during, and after the crisis. The pattern of criminal indulgences exposes the onset of a new degree of crony capitalism in which the most economically and political powerful can commit financial crimes of vast scale with criminal and regulatory immunity. A new economic royalty has seized the commanding heights of our economy through their control of trillions in corporate and individual wealth and their ability to dispense patronage. The Case for the Corporate Death Penalty shows that this new lawlessness poses a profound threat that urgently demands political action and proposes attainable measures to restore the rule of law in the financial sector.Financial institutionsCorrupt practicesUnited StatesFinancial institutionsGovernment policyUnited StatesFinancial services industryGovernment policyUnited StatesSubprime mortgage loansUnited StatesDerivative securitiesUnited StatesCommercial crimesGlobal Financial Crisis, 2008-2009United StatesfastFinancial institutionsCorrupt practicesFinancial institutionsGovernment policyFinancial services industryGovernment policySubprime mortgage loansDerivative securitiesCommercial crimes.Global Financial Crisis, 2008-2009.332.10973Ramirez Mary Kreiner, authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1228554Ramirez Steven A., authttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autDE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910154845303321The Case for the Corporate Death Penalty2852109UNINA04593nam 22007815 450 991098614430332120250308115226.09789819619290981961929710.1007/978-981-96-1929-0(MiAaPQ)EBC31952044(Au-PeEL)EBL31952044(CKB)37801693700041(DE-He213)978-981-96-1929-0(OCoLC)1511108841(EXLCZ)993780169370004120250308d2025 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierHigh Throughput Imaging Technology /edited by Zhengjun Liu, Yutong Li1st ed. 2025.Singapore :Springer Nature Singapore :Imprint: Springer,2025.1 online resource (641 pages)Advances in Optics and Optoelectronics,2731-60179789819619283 9819619289 1. Digital Holography. This book highlights a comprehensive introduction to high-throughput imaging, with the focus on the principles and methods. High-throughput imaging has become a research trend in the field of optics. It combines fast imaging, super-resolution imaging and large field of view imaging, improving the performance of the imaging system in many aspects. The development of a fast and high-throughput imaging system requires integration of optics, mathematics, programming, and other related science and technology. They bridge the theory and the system and realize the software-hardware integration, finally achieving high-performance imaging. An effective evaluation criterion of high-throughput imaging is the spatio-temporal bandwidth product, which provides guidance for research. The imaging technology with better comprehensive performance is the key target of research. Nowadays, new super-resolution imaging technologies and high-throughput imaging technologies have been emerging one after another, together with a number of new technical indicators. However, the integration and cascade of various technologies is still a very difficult challenge, and different technologies are difficult to be used in combination because of differences in physical space and technical means. Creating an imaging system with fast and high-throughput imaging capability is an urgent research task, which has important economic and social benefits for practical applications such as observing the dynamic (transient) process of large-size targets and on-line detection. High-throughput imaging is one of the major research goals of global research teams in optical imaging. This book summarizes latest research advances and introduces a variety of imaging methods targeting key problems, bringing together new theories and technologies in the aspects of high resolution, large field of view and fast imaging. The book provides a handy reference and systematic handbook for graduate students, researchers, and technicians engaged in the study, research and work in optical imaging.Advances in Optics and Optoelectronics,2731-6017MicroscopyMaterialsAnalysisImaging systemsBiophysicsOpticsImage processingDigital techniquesComputer visionOptical MicroscopyImaging TechniquesBioanalysis and BioimagingLight-Matter InteractionComputer Imaging, Vision, Pattern Recognition and GraphicsApplied OpticsMicroscopy.MaterialsAnalysis.Imaging systems.Biophysics.Optics.Image processingDigital techniques.Computer vision.Optical Microscopy.Imaging Techniques.Bioanalysis and Bioimaging.Light-Matter Interaction.Computer Imaging, Vision, Pattern Recognition and Graphics.Applied Optics.502.82Liu Zhengjun1791052Li Yutong1791053MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910986144303321High Throughput Imaging Technology4327902UNINA
