Using Output Growth as the Threshold VariableReferencesOnly a few empirical studies have analyzed the relationship between fiscal multipliers and the underlying state of the economy. This paper investigates this link on a country-by-country basis for the G7 economies (excluding Italy). Our results show that fiscal multipliers differ across countries, calling for a tailored use of fiscal policy. Moreover, the position in the business cycle affects the impact of fiscal policy on output: on average, government spending, and revenue multipliers tend to be larger in downturns than in expansions. This asymmetry has implications for the choice between an upfront fiscal adjustment versus a more gradual approach.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2012/286Multiplier (Economics)Fiscal policyDeveloped countriesBusiness FluctuationsimfCyclesimfEconomic theoryimfExpenditureimfExpenditures, PublicimfFiscal consolidationimfFiscal multipliersimfFiscal PolicyimfFiscal policyimfMacroeconomicsimfMacroeconomics: ProductionimfNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralimfOutput gapimfProduction and Operations ManagementimfProductionimfPublic finance & taxationimfPublic FinanceimfQuantitative Policy ModelingimfUnited StatesimfMultiplier (Economics)Fiscal policyBusiness FluctuationsCyclesEconomic theoryExpenditureExpenditures, PublicFiscal consolidationFiscal multipliersFiscal PolicyFiscal policyMacroeconomicsMacroeconomics: ProductionNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralOutput gapProduction and Operations ManagementProductionPublic finance & taxationPublic FinanceQuantitative Policy Modeling332.1/52Baum Anja1815915Poplawski Ribeiro Marcos1815916Weber Anke1063702DcWaIMFBOOK9910973672303321Fiscal Multipliers and the State of the Economy4371537UNINA00950nam0 22002651i 450 UON0023603920231205103525.66320030730d1948 |0itac50 bahbsHR|||| |||||JamaIvan Goran KovacicIlustrirao Frano BaceZagrebNakladni Zavod Hrvatske194853 p.ill.24 cm.HRZagrebUONL001976891.82Letteratura serbo-croata21KOVACICIvan GoranUONV141766687715BACEFranoUONV142896Drustvo Hrvatski knjizevnikUONV269476650ITSOL20250620RICASIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOUONSIUON00236039SIBA - SISTEMA BIBLIOTECARIO DI ATENEOSI CROATO A 0862 SI MR 23170 5 0862 Jama1231544UNIOR
