Foreign banks' performance improves over time, possibly as they adapt, and is better when the home country is geographical or cultural (but not institutional) close to the host country. These findings show the importance of controlling for heterogeneity among foreign banks and help reconcile some contradictory results found in the literature on foreign banks' performance.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2009/273Banks and banking, InternationalInvestments, ForeignBank creditimfBankingimfBanks and BankingimfBanks and bankingimfBanks and banking, ForeignimfBanksimfCommercial banksimfCompetitionimfCreditimfDepository InstitutionsimfFinanceimfFinance: GeneralimfForeign banksimfGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)imfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMonetary economicsimfMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfMortgagesimfCzech RepublicimfBanks and banking, International.Investments, Foreign.Bank creditBankingBanks and BankingBanks and bankingBanks and banking, ForeignBanksCommercial banksCompetitionCreditDepository InstitutionsFinanceFinance: GeneralForeign banksGeneral Financial Markets: General (includes Measurement and Data)Micro Finance InstitutionsMonetary economicsMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralMoney and Monetary PolicyMortgages332.152Horen Neeltje1816491Claessens Stijn282431International Monetary Fund.DcWaIMFBOOK9910970436803321Being a Foreigner Among Domestic Banks4372629UNINA
