This paper analyzes the role of foreign-owned banks in these credit booms. The results show that the CEE countries depend on foreign banks, and these foreign banks depend on interbank funding. Lending by foreign banks seems driven by economic growth and interest rate margins. This lending appears independent of economic but not financial conditions in the foreign bank's home country.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2008/215Banks and bankingEurope, CentralEconometric modelsBanks and bankingEurope, EasternEconometric modelsCreditEurope, CentralEconometric modelsBank creditimfBankingimfBanks and BankingimfBanks and bankingimfBanks and banking, ForeignimfBanksimfCreditimfDepository InstitutionsimfForeign banksimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMonetary economicsimfMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfMortgagesimfState-owned banksimfCzech RepublicimfBanks and bankingEconometric models.Banks and bankingEconometric models.CreditEconometric models.Bank creditBankingBanks and BankingBanks and bankingBanks and banking, ForeignBanksCreditDepository InstitutionsForeign banksMicro Finance InstitutionsMonetary economicsMonetary Policy, Central Banking, and the Supply of Money and Credit: GeneralMoney and Monetary PolicyMortgagesState-owned banks332.109437Aydin Burcu1815940DcWaIMFBOOK9910970186103321Banking Structure and Credit Growth in Central and Eastern European Countries4371570UNINA
