The Rise and Fall of Postwar Coalitions for Civil Rights --Epilogue --Notes --IndexThis book illuminates various aspects of a central but unexplored area of American history: the midcentury Japanese American experience. A vast and ever-growing literature exists, first on the entry and settlement of Japanese immigrants in the United States at the turn of the 20th century, then on the experience of the immigrants and their American-born children during World War II. Yet the essential question, "What happened afterwards?" remains all but unanswered in historical literature. Excluded from the wartime economic boom and scarred psychologically by their wartime ordeal, the former camp inmates struggled to remake their lives in the years that followed. This volume consists of a series of case studies that shed light on various developments relating to Japanese Americans in the aftermath of their wartime confinement, including resettlement nationwide, the mental and physical readjustment of the former inmates, and their political engagement, most notably in concert with other racialized and ethnic minority groups.ACLS Fellows' Publications.Portraits in midcentury Japanese American life and politicsJapanese AmericansSocial conditions20th centuryJapanese AmericansPolitics and government20th centuryJapanese AmericansCivil rightsHistory20th centuryJapanese AmericansForced removal and internment, 1942-1945Cold WarSocial aspectsUnited StatesCommunity lifeUnited StatesHistory20th centuryUnited StatesSocial conditions1945-United StatesEthnic relations20th centuryJapanese AmericansSocial conditionsJapanese AmericansPolitics and governmentJapanese AmericansCivil rightsHistoryJapanese AmericansForced removal and internment, 1942-1945.Cold WarSocial aspectsCommunity lifeHistory973/.04956Robinson Greg1966-512224MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910969297203321After Camp1766373UNINA04406nam 22006855 450 991036658870332120200701090746.03-030-28580-410.1007/978-3-030-28580-7(CKB)4100000009152922(MiAaPQ)EBC5888911(DE-He213)978-3-030-28580-7(EXLCZ)99410000000915292220190828d2020 u| 0engurcnu||||||||txtrdacontentcrdamediacrrdacarrierEnergy-Efficient Algorithms and Protocols for Wireless Body Sensor Networks /by Rongrong Zhang, Jihong Yu1st ed. 2020.Cham :Springer International Publishing :Imprint: Springer,2020.1 online resource (141 pages)3-030-28579-0 Introduction -- Reliable and energy-efficient leader election algorithms for WBSNs -- Medium access for concurrent traffic in WBSNs: protocol design and analysis -- On multi-channel broadcast in WBSNs with asynchronous duty cycles: theoretical foundation and algorithm design -- Energy-efficient sleep scheduling in WBSNs: from the perspective of minimum dominating set -- Conclusion. This book provides a systematic treatment of the theoretical foundation and algorithmic tools necessary in the design of energy-efficient algorithms and protocols in wireless body sensor networks (WBSNs). These problems addressed in the book are of both fundamental and practical importance. Specifically, the book delivers a comprehensive treatment on the following problems ranging from theoretical modeling and analysis, to practical algorithm design and optimization: energy-efficient clustering-based leader election algorithms in WBSNs; MAC protocol for duty-cycling WBSNs with concurrent traffic; multi-channel broadcast algorithms in duty-cycling WBSNs; and energy-efficient sleep scheduling algorithms in WBSNs. Target readers of the book are researchers and advanced-level engineering students interested in acquiring in-depth knowledge on the topic and on WBSNs and their applications, both from theoretical and engineering perspective. Provides foundations for the design of energy-efficient algorithms and protocols for WBSNs Presents a variety of tools and how they can be adapted and applied in the energy-limited WBSNs Includes research on conventional graph theory and channel hopping technology into the emerging applications of WBSNs.Electrical engineeringElectronicsMicroelectronicsMedical informaticsUser interfaces (Computer systems)Signal processingImage processingSpeech processing systemsCommunications Engineering, Networkshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T24035Electronics and Microelectronics, Instrumentationhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T24027Health Informaticshttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I23060User Interfaces and Human Computer Interactionhttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/I18067Signal, Image and Speech Processinghttps://scigraph.springernature.com/ontologies/product-market-codes/T24051Electrical engineering.Electronics.Microelectronics.Medical informatics.User interfaces (Computer systems)Signal processing.Image processing.Speech processing systems.Communications Engineering, Networks.Electronics and Microelectronics, Instrumentation.Health Informatics.User Interfaces and Human Computer Interaction.Signal, Image and Speech Processing.004.678004.678Zhang Rongrongauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/aut1060165Yu Jihongauthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/autBOOK9910366588703321Energy-Efficient Algorithms and Protocols for Wireless Body Sensor Networks2511431UNINA
