The tendency to underprice systemic liquidity risk and currency-induced credit risk creates vulnerabilities that need supervisory responses. The framework seeks to induce agents to better internalize risks by implementing a risk based approach to supervision, following the risk management guidelines of the Basel Committee, and by establishing buffers to cover higher liquidity and solvency risks. The paper also shows that most dollarized countries have addressed their liquidity vulnerabilities, but few have addressed those arising from currency-induced credit risks.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/032Banks and bankingState supervisionBanks and bankingRisk managementBankingimfBanks and BankingimfBanks and bankingimfBanksimfCapital and Ownership StructureimfCredit riskimfCurrenciesimfCurrencyimfDepository InstitutionsimfExchange rate riskimfExchange ratesimfFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and RegulationimfFinancial regulation and supervisionimfFinancial Risk and Risk ManagementimfFinancial risk managementimfFinancial services law & regulationimfFinancing PolicyimfForeign ExchangeimfForeign exchangeimfGoodwillimfGovernment and the Monetary SystemimfLiquidity riskimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMonetary economicsimfMonetary SystemsimfMoney and Monetary PolicyimfMoneyimfMortgagesimfPayment SystemsimfRegimesimfStandardsimfValue of FirmsimfPeruimfBanks and bankingState supervision.Banks and bankingRisk management.BankingBanks and BankingBanks and bankingBanksCapital and Ownership StructureCredit riskCurrenciesCurrencyDepository InstitutionsExchange rate riskExchange ratesFinancial Institutions and Services: Government Policy and RegulationFinancial regulation and supervisionFinancial Risk and Risk ManagementFinancial risk managementFinancial services law & regulationFinancing PolicyForeign ExchangeForeign exchangeGoodwillGovernment and the Monetary SystemLiquidity riskMicro Finance InstitutionsMonetary economicsMonetary SystemsMoney and Monetary PolicyMoneyMortgagesPayment SystemsRegimesStandardsValue of FirmsGarcia Pascual Antonio1766580Cayazzo Jorge1815618Gutierrez Eva1815619Heysen Socorro1815620DcWaIMFBOOK9910968070503321Toward An Effective Supervision of Partially Dollarized Banking Systems4371080UNINA
