Discipline-specific models of teaching and learning can underprepare students for the kinds of interdisciplinary collaboration that employers now expect. Although aware of these expectations and the need for change, many small colleges and universities have struggled to translate interdisciplinarity into programs and curricula that better serve today’s students. Written by faculty engaged in the design and delivery of interdisciplinary courses, programs, and experiential learning opportunities in the small college setting, The Synergistic Classroom addresses the many ways faculty can leverage their institutions' small size and openness to pedagogical experimentation to overcome the challenges of limited institutional resources and enrollment concerns and better prepare students for life and work in the twenty-first century. Taken together, the contributions in this volume invite reflection on a variety of important issues that attend the work of small college faculty committed to expanding student learning across disciplinary boundaries.Education, HigherCurriculaUnited StatesInterdisciplinary approach in educationUnited StatesSmall collegesUnited StatesEducation, HigherCurriculaInterdisciplinary approach in educationSmall colleges378.1/990973Angello Aaron1884979Austin Allan W1810699Barcenas-Mooradian Martha1884980Boulton April M1884981Caleb Amanda M1212302Campion Corey1884982Conrad Maryann1884983Cooperman Hilary1884984Crow Peter1884985Dehne Christine1884986Goach Audra L1884987Hamilton Patrick L193410Hanlon Tina L1884988Heck Delia R1884989Klimek Julia F1884990Marchesi Patricia1884991Mead Susan V1884992Munson Jonathan1884993Myers Christine D1884994Nordstrom Alicia H1884995Ou Winston1884996Prado Paola1884997Quezada-Grant Autumn1884998Reich Paul D1884999Cornelius Smith Erika1885000Stein Sharon E1885001Thomas Carolyn L1885002Whited Lana A1483378Aaron Angelloctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbAlicia H Nordstromctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbAllan W Austinctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbAmanda M Calebctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbAngello Aaronedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtApril M Boultonctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbAudra L Goachctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbAutumn Quezada-Grantctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbCampion Coreyedthttp://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/edtCarolyn L Thomasctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbChristine D Myersctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbChristine Dehnectbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbCorey Campionctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbDelia R Heckctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbErika Cornelius Smithctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbHilary Coopermanctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbJonathan Munsonctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbJulia F Klimekctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbLana A Whitedctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbMartha Bárcenas-Mooradianctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbMaryann Conradctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPaola Pradoctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPatricia Marchesictbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPatrick L Hamiltonctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPaul D Reichctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbPeter Crowctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSharon E Steinctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSusan V Meadctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbTina L Hanlonctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbWinston Ouctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbDE-B1597DE-B1597BOOK9910967940503321The Synergistic Classroom4519749UNINA
