Contrary to the previous Canadian exchange rate literature, this paper finds that both energy and nonenergy commodity prices have an influence on the Canadian dollar, and some upward pressure on the exchange rate would therefore be expected. Model results suggest, however, that the impact on other tradable goods exports is limited.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/070Oil sands industryEconomic aspectsCanadaMonetary policyCanadaAlberta energyIptcncBarrel (unit)IptcncDutch diseaseIptcncEconomicsIptcncEconomyIptcncExchange rateIptcncGross domestic productIptcncNatural gasIptcncOil sandsIptcncPetroleumIptcncOil sands industryEconomic aspectsMonetary policyAlberta energyBarrel (unit)Dutch diseaseEconomicsEconomyExchange rateGross domestic productNatural gasOil sandsPetroleum338.2/72830971Bayoumi Tamim122763Mühleisen Martin1816596International Monetary Fund.DcWaIMFBOOK9910967319303321Energy, the Exchange Rate, and the Economy4372813UNINA
