The epileptogenic process may result not only in pathology in focal cortical regions, but abnormalities in subcortical structures, such as thalamus and basal ganglia, and in intercortical and intracortical connecting white matter pathways. Novel methods of treating refractory epilepsy are urgently needed. The goal of identifying for each affected individual the specific brain regions that are involved offers the promise that novel methods of treatment will one day be developed that specifically target those abnormal regions. Researchers from disparate fields are required to develop and advance this area of research, and this current topic proposes to place a spotlight on the “state of the art” of methods to identify the abnormal networks. Recent work covering a wide variety of disciplines and technologies, including dense array electroencephalography (dEEG), novel methods of analyses of both the interictal dEEG and intracranial EEG (icEEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), simultaneous fMRI-EEG, fMRI connectivity measures, simultaneous dEEG-icEEG, and techniques to coregister patient-specific MRI (including white matter pathways) and dEEG, are all examples of areas of research that have contributed to a greater understanding of potential epileptogenic regions. We asked for individuals with expertise in an area of research that expands an understanding of identifying epileptic networks to contribute to this research topic.EpilepsyTreatmentBrain stimulationtractographyepileptic spikesfunctional connectivityEpilepsycerebral networksEEG coherence analysisSeizure propagationEpilepsyTreatment.Brain stimulation.Holmes MarkTucker Don M.WaSeSSWaSeSSBOOK9910137197703321Identifying the epileptic network2256645UNINA02310nam 2200625Ia 450 991096529110332120251117083014.01-299-05250-91-60344-608-7(CKB)2550000000033408(OCoLC)826660272(CaPaEBR)ebrary10463902(SSID)ssj0000535678(PQKBManifestationID)11356849(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000535678(PQKBWorkID)10546208(PQKB)11659059(MdBmJHUP)muse1061(MiAaPQ)EBC3037982(Au-PeEL)EBL3037982(CaPaEBR)ebr10463902(CaONFJC)MIL436500(BIP)46498304(BIP)11792473(EXLCZ)99255000000003340820050217d2005 ub 0engur|||||||nn|ntxtccrDat tackling life and the NFL /by Dat Nguyen with Rusty Burson; forword by Darren Woodson1st ed.College Station Texas A&M University Press20051 online resource (253 p.)Bibliographic Level Mode of Issuance: Monograph1-58544-472-3 Includes index.Odds breaker -- Village people -- Flee for all -- Born in the U.S.A. -- The beauty of sports -- Texas A&M's big, fat failure -- Labels are for canned goods -- Dance hall daze -- Clock management -- The Lombardi and the "Oscar" -- Moving and (milk)shaking -- The ride of my life.Dallas Cowboy Dat Nguyen shares the inspirational story of his life--from growing up in a refugee family in Rockport, Texas to his college days at Texas A&M University, and to his life now as the starting middle linebacker for the Cowboys.Football playersUnited StatesBiographyAsian American football playersBiographyFootball playersAsian American football players796.332/092BNguyen Dat1975-1870956Burson Rusty1870957MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910965291103321Dat4479548UNINA
