Previous events were held in Berne (Switzerland) in 2006, Xanthi (Greece) in 2005, Frankfurt (Germany) in 2004, and Las Vegas (USA) in 2002. As in 2005 and 2006, WWIC was selected as the official conference by COST Action 290 (Wi-QoST–Traffic and QoS Management in Wireless Multimedia Networks). WWIC 2007 brought together active and proficient members of the networking community, from both academia and industry, thus contributing to scientific, strategic, and practical advances in the broad and fast-evolving field of wired/wireless Internet communications. The WWIC 2007 call for papers attracted 257 submissions from 36 different countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. These were subject to thorough review work by the Program Committee members and additional reviewers. The selection process was finalized in a Technical Program Committee meeting held in Malaga, Spain, on February 15, 2007.Computer Communication Networks and Telecommunications,2945-9184 ;4517Computer scienceComputer networksApplication softwareSoftware engineeringData protectionMicrocomputersComputer ScienceComputer Communication NetworksComputer and Information Systems ApplicationsSoftware EngineeringData and Information SecurityPersonal ComputingComputer science.Computer networks.Application software.Software engineering.Data protection.Microcomputers.Computer Science.Computer Communication Networks.Computer and Information Systems Applications.Software Engineering.Data and Information Security.Personal Computing.004.678Boavida Fernando1959-MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910484098203321Wired772061UNINA03068nam 2200685Ia 450 991096399530332120251116190952.01-280-83404-897866108340440-7486-3044-910.1515/9780748630448(CKB)1000000000351110(EBL)292373(OCoLC)476052041(SSID)ssj0000226733(PQKBManifestationID)11216169(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000226733(PQKBWorkID)10258726(PQKB)10556640(MiAaPQ)EBC1962269(MiAaPQ)EBC292373(Au-PeEL)EBL1962269(CaPaEBR)ebr10435306(CaONFJC)MIL83404(Au-PeEL)EBL292373(DE-B1597)615733(DE-B1597)9780748630448(EXLCZ)99100000000035111020060607d2007 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrPressure groups /Duncan Watts1st ed.Edinburgh Edinburgh University Pressc20071 online resource (249 p.)Politics study guidesDescription based upon print version of record.0-7486-2439-2 Includes bibliographical references and index.COPYRIGHT; Contents; Boxes; Tables; Introduction; CHAPTER 1 Classifying Pressure Groups; CHAPTER 2 How Pressure Groups Operate; CHAPTER 3 Pressure Group Resources and Success; CHAPTER 4 Trends in Group Activity since 1979; CHAPTER 5 Protest Politics and Direct Action; CHAPTER 6 Pressure Groups and the Devolved Legislatures; CHAPTER 7 Lobbying the European Union; CHAPTER 8 The Abolition of Hunting with Dogs: an English, Welsh and Scottish Case Study; CHAPTER 9 Pressure Groups and Democracy; References; IndexPressure Groups are an increasingly important feature of the political landscape and they are active on many levels, local, national or European. They reflect a diverse compass of interests from the well-known (the National Farmers' Union) to the less familiar (the Zip Fastener Association) and interact with a wide range of political players in different parts of the political system: parties, the media, government and parliament. They are involved at every stage of the political process, from raising issues and agenda setting to policy implementation and monitoring.
