Empirical results based on a structural autoregression framework suggest that fiscal policy can be used for demand management, although the impact may be somewhat short lived. The short-lived impact could reflect a number of factors, including the absence of credit-constrained economic agents, a high propensity to save among households, monetary focus on price stability, and leakages due to economic openness. Notwithstanding, fiscal policy should still play a key stabilizing role in the current downturn given the downside risks to growth and the vast fiscal space.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2009/008Fiscal policySingaporeEconomic policyDiffusion ProcessesimfDynamic Quantile RegressionsimfDynamic Treatment Effect ModelsimfEconometric analysisimfEconometrics & economic statisticsimfEconometricsimfExpenditureimfExpenditures, PublicimfFiscal Policies and Behavior of Economic Agents: GeneralimfFiscal PolicyimfFiscal policyimfFiscal stimulusimfMacroeconomicsimfNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralimfPublic finance & taxationimfPublic FinanceimfRevenue administrationimfRevenueimfState Space ModelsimfStructural vector autoregressionimfTaxation, Subsidies, and Revenue: GeneralimfTime-Series ModelsimfSingaporeimfFiscal policyEconomic policy.Diffusion ProcessesDynamic Quantile RegressionsDynamic Treatment Effect ModelsEconometric analysisEconometrics & economic statisticsEconometricsExpenditureExpenditures, PublicFiscal Policies and Behavior of Economic Agents: GeneralFiscal PolicyFiscal policyFiscal stimulusMacroeconomicsNational Government Expenditures and Related Policies: GeneralPublic finance & taxationPublic FinanceRevenue administrationRevenueState Space ModelsStructural vector autoregressionTaxation, Subsidies, and Revenue: GeneralTime-Series Models339.015195Eskesen Leif1816012DcWaIMFBOOK9910961922303321The Role for Counter-Cyclical Fiscal Policy in Singapore4371654UNINA
