Concluding Remarks; ReferencesDuring the first half of 2008, Sri Lanka witnessed significantly higher inflation than most other emerging Asian countries. Inflation has since declined amid declining world commodity prices and tight monetary policy. Given the sensitivity to global commodity prices, a core inflation measure could be useful for monetary policy. The purpose of this paper is to compare the performance of Sri Lanka's existing official measure of core inflation against alternative measures. Our findings suggest that the existing measure does contain information about the future path of headline information, but may be inadequate as a communication tool for the Central Bank.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2009/167Inflation (Finance)Sri LankaMonetary policySri LankaAgriculture: Aggregate Supply and Demand AnalysisimfBusiness cyclesimfConsumer price indexesimfCyclical indicatorsimfDeflationimfEconometric Modeling: GeneralimfEconomic growthimfEnergy: Demand and SupplyimfFood pricesimfFuel pricesimfInflationimfMacroeconomicsimfMonetary PolicyimfPrice indexesimfPrice LevelimfPricesimfPrices, Business Fluctuations, and Cycles: General (includes Measurement and Data)imfSri LankaimfInflation (Finance)Monetary policyAgriculture: Aggregate Supply and Demand AnalysisBusiness cyclesConsumer price indexesCyclical indicatorsDeflationEconometric Modeling: GeneralEconomic growthEnergy: Demand and SupplyFood pricesFuel pricesInflationMacroeconomicsMonetary PolicyPrice indexesPrice LevelPricesPrices, Business Fluctuations, and Cycles: General (includes Measurement and Data)332.495Gupta Souvik1816612Saxegaard Magnus1816355International Monetary Fund.Asia and Pacific Dept.DcWaIMFBOOK9910961803803321Measures of Underlying Inflation in Sri Lanka4372857UNINA
