(2002) Balance Sheet Approach to examine macroeconomic vulnerabilities in Colombia between 1996 and 2003, based on an unusually rich data set. We find that vulnerabilities existing prior to Colombia's 1999 recession-high levels of private debt, a large negative foreign currency position of the corporate sector, and banks' exposure to stretched households and companies-receded subsequently. New vulnerabilities emerged, however, especially the high level of public debt accumulated until end-2003, and growing exposure of the financial sector to the sovereign.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/005Financial statementsColombiaFinance, PublicColombiaBanks and bankingColombiaDebts, PublicColombiaAccountingimfBankingimfBanks and BankingimfBanks and bankingimfBanksimfBusiness enterprisesimfCaribbeanimfCivil service & public sectorimfCorporate Finance and Governance: GeneralimfCorporate FinanceimfCorporate sectorimfCurrent Account AdjustmentimfDebt ManagementimfDebtimfDebts, PublicimfDepository InstitutionsimfEconomic sectorsimfEconomywide Country Studies: Latin AmericaimfExpenditureimfFinance, PublicimfFinancial reporting, financial statementsimfFinancial statementsimfInternational Financial MarketsimfInternational Lending and Debt ProblemsimfInternational Monetary Arrangements and InstitutionsimfMacroeconomics and Monetary Economics: GeneralimfMacroeconomicsimfMicro Finance InstitutionsimfMortgagesimfOwnership & organization of enterprisesimfPension spendingimfPensionsimfPublic AdministrationimfPublic debtimfPublic EnterprisesimfPublic finance & taxationimfPublic FinanceimfPublic financial management (PFM)imfPublic Sector Accounting and AuditsimfPublic sectorimfPublic-Private EnterprisesimfShort-term Capital MovementsimfSocial Security and Public PensionsimfSovereign DebtimfColombiaEconomic conditions1970-ColombiaEconomic policyColombiaimfFinancial statementsFinance, PublicBanks and bankingDebts, PublicAccountingBankingBanks and BankingBanks and bankingBanksBusiness enterprisesCaribbeanCivil service & public sectorCorporate Finance and Governance: GeneralCorporate FinanceCorporate sectorCurrent Account AdjustmentDebt ManagementDebtDebts, PublicDepository InstitutionsEconomic sectorsEconomywide Country Studies: Latin AmericaExpenditureFinance, PublicFinancial reporting, financial statementsFinancial statementsInternational Financial MarketsInternational Lending and Debt ProblemsInternational Monetary Arrangements and InstitutionsMacroeconomics and Monetary Economics: GeneralMacroeconomicsMicro Finance InstitutionsMortgagesOwnership & organization of enterprisesPension spendingPensionsPublic AdministrationPublic debtPublic EnterprisesPublic finance & taxationPublic FinancePublic financial management (PFM)Public Sector Accounting and AuditsPublic sectorPublic-Private EnterprisesShort-term Capital MovementsSocial Security and Public PensionsSovereign DebtLima Juan Manuel1816410Montes Enrique1816411Varela Carlos1408764Wiegand Johannes820400International Monetary Fund.Research Department.DcWaIMFBOOK9910959026903321Sectoral Balance Sheet Mismatches and Macroeconomic Vulnerabilities in Colombia, 1996-20034372467UNINA
