The empirical results suggest however that political instability has a negative effect on non-oil growth, and that the presence of oil could have fueled political instability by being associated with weakening institutions. The results also show that fiscal discipline is beneficial for growth. In addition, there are strong linkages between world oil prices and the real effective exchange rate, with movements in the latter having important indirect repercussions for growth.IMF Working Papers; Working Paper ;No. 2006/185PetroleumDemocratic Republic of the CongoOil industriesDemocratic Republic of the CongoAgricultural and Natural Resource EconomicsimfCurrencyimfEnergy: Demand and SupplyimfEnergy: GeneralimfEnvironmental and Ecological Economics: GeneralimfEnvironmental managementimfForeign ExchangeimfForeign exchangeimfIndustries: EnergyimfInvestment & securitiesimfInvestments: EnergyimfMacroeconomicsimfNatural ResourcesimfNatural resourcesimfNonrenewable Resources and Conservation: GeneralimfOil pricesimfOil sectorimfOilimfPetroleum industry and tradeimfPetroleum, oil & gas industriesimfPricesimfReal effective exchange ratesimfCongo, Democratic Republic of theimfPetroleumOil industriesAgricultural and Natural Resource EconomicsCurrencyEnergy: Demand and SupplyEnergy: GeneralEnvironmental and Ecological Economics: GeneralEnvironmental managementForeign ExchangeForeign exchangeIndustries: EnergyInvestment & securitiesInvestments: EnergyMacroeconomicsNatural ResourcesNatural resourcesNonrenewable Resources and Conservation: GeneralOil pricesOil sectorOilPetroleum industry and tradePetroleum, oil & gas industriesPricesReal effective exchange ratesGhura Dhaneshwar1815935Bhattacharya Rina1816058DcWaIMFBOOK9910959022503321Oil and Growth in the Republic of Congo4371695UNINA
