Creating the foundations of Soviet Ukrainian theatre and cinema, he was also responsible for its avant-garde direction. Shakespeare in the Undiscovered Bourn is the first book-length study in English of Kurbas's modernist productions of Shakespeare and the first book on Soviet Shakespeare productions in Ukraine in any language.Situating Shakespeare within the ideological and cultural debates and conflicts of the early Soviet period, Irena Makaryk traces the trajectory of Shakespeare's and Kurbas's fortunes while also investigating the challenges that modernism posed to early Soviet ideology.Ukraine's cultural history ? still an undiscovered bourn ? has frequently been submerged within a homogenized Soviet experience. The fall of the Soviet Union and the consequent opening up of many hitherto inaccessible archives has allowed a new probing of the master narratives created during that regime. Invoking contemporary debates about the cultural uses of Shakespeare (especially issues of canon, classic, and authority), Shakespeare in the Undiscovered Bourn examines the complexities of the Soviet encounter with Shakespeare. It thus makes an important contribution to the studies of theatre, cross-culturalism, modernism, and postcolonialism.TheaterUkraineHistory20th centuryTheater and societyUkraineHistory20th centuryTheaterPolitical aspectsUkraineHistory20th centuryTheater and societySoviet UnionHistoryTheaterPolitical aspectsSoviet UnionHistoryElectronic books.TheaterHistoryTheater and societyHistoryTheaterPolitical aspectsHistoryTheater and societyHistory.TheaterPolitical aspectsHistory.792.9509477Makaryk Irene Rima251460MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK996472057503316Shakespeare in the undiscovered bourn2773634UNISA04513nam 2200517 450 991022008470332120230808194043.00-8330-9503-X(CKB)3710000000743610(EBL)4578329(MiAaPQ)EBC4578329(EXLCZ)99371000000074361020160819h20162016 uy 0engur|n|---|||||rdacontentrdamediardacarrierPreservation of affordable rental housing evaluation of the MacArthur Foundation's Window of Opportunity Initiative /Heather L. The authors of this report assess whether the initiative achieved its goals and identify lessons learned about effective preservation practices. In doing so, they also provide a summary of the evolution of practices in preserving affordable rental housing, discuss challenges and opportunities for preservation going forward, and identify lessons learned that may help other philanthropies in their own philanthropic initiatives, even if they do not pertain to housing. The authors find that the MacArthur Foundation met most of its goals for Window of Opportunity. As the initiative nears its end, large nonprofit preservation developers/owners have greater financial capacity and reputation, there are more resources and vehicles for preservation, and, to a lesser degree, the policy environment has changed to the benefit of preservation. However, Window of Opportunity has not achieved its most ambitious federal policy goals and is likely to fall short of its target for the number of privately owned affordable rental housing that will be preserved"--Back cover.Rental housingUnited StatesLow-income housingUnited StatesUnited StatesfastRental housingLow-income housing333.540973Schwartz Heather L.1241403Schwartz Heather L.Rand Corporation,MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910220084703321Preservation of affordable rental housing2892052UNINA03307nam 22007094a 450 991095759130332120251116175550.01-134-68638-21-134-68639-01-280-11342-10-203-99530-910.4324/9780203995303 (CKB)1000000000250391(EBL)241902(OCoLC)431464198(SSID)ssj0000164126(PQKBManifestationID)11162824(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000164126(PQKBWorkID)10121018(PQKB)10142283(SSID)ssj0000297738(PQKBManifestationID)11223433(PQKBTitleCode)TC0000297738(PQKBWorkID)10343987(PQKB)11308534(MiAaPQ)EBC241902(Au-PeEL)EBL241902(CaPaEBR)ebr10099371(CaONFJC)MIL11342(OCoLC)60799764(EXLCZ)99100000000025039120020612d2002 uy 0engur|n|---|||||txtccrGod, gender, and the Bible /Deborah SawyerLondon ;New York Routledge20021 online resource (193 p.)Biblical limitsDescription based upon print version of record.0-415-17484-8 0-415-17483-X Includes bibliographical references (p. Such texts offer striking parallels to contemporary gender theories (particularly those of Luce Irigaray and Judith Butler), which have unravelled given notions of power and constructed identity. Through the study of gender in terms of its application by biblical writers as a theological strategy, we can observe how these writers use female characters to undermine human mascBiblical limits.Sex roleBiblical teachingGodOmnipotenceBiblical teachingSex roleBiblical teaching.GodOmnipotenceBiblical teaching.220.8/3053Sawyer Deborah F.1956-486556MiAaPQMiAaPQMiAaPQBOOK9910957591303321God, gender, and the Bible4487816UNINA
