(Austria), 2009). The collection not only contains articles related to some of Wittgenstein's central arguments but also holds contributions that deal with the role and function of signs, as well as with the relations between language and action, consciousness and metaphysics. An interdisciplinary workshop was dedicated to "Wittgenstein and Literature", an area of study which has been prominent in the philosophical discourse of the last decade. Contributors to this volume are Anat Biletzki, Michael Dummett, Laurence Goldstein, Peter Janich, Brian McGuinness, Marjorie Perloff, David Schalkwyk, Joachim Schulte, Pirmin Stekeler-Weithofer, David Stern, Eike von Savigny among others.Publications of the Austrian Ludwig Wittgenstein Society - N.S.LinguisticsCongressesSociolinguisticsCongressesPsycholinguisticsCongressesLinguisticsSociolinguisticsPsycholinguistics820Munz Volker860992Derra Aleksandractbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbStrohmaier Alexandractbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBiletzki Anatctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbMcGuinness Brianctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSchalkwyk Davidctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbStern Davidctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSavigny Eike vonctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbRamharter Estherctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbBińczyk Ewactbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbKlagge James C.ctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbSchulte Joachimctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbMarek Johann Christianctbhttps://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/relators/ctbRothhaupt Josef G. Its publication is widely considered to mark the founding of that sub-discipline of psychology devoted to the systematic study of individual and group differences. The book includes an introductory chapter by Nicolas and Lamiell, placing Stern's work into historical context and discussing its influence on the work of scholars who followed. By making this work available for the first time for an Anglophone audience, it fills a significant gap in the history of psychology literature and offers a springboard into much needed critical discourse on the contemporary state of psychological testing in particular, and on the study of individual and group differences more broadly. It holds fresh insights for those specializing in the fields of personality psychology, educational psychology, and industrial-organizational psychology; as well as to practitioners in the fields of personal and educational counseling. L. William Stern (1871 – 1938) was a German scholar whose hallmark contribution to psychology was, in his own view, a comprehensive system of thought he called 'critical personalism.' Within that system, Stern offered a philosophically sophisticated understanding of the psychological development of human personalities and, by extension, a vision of the dynamics of socio-ethically flourishing human communities. Translated and Introduced by: Serge Nicolas is Professor of psychology at the Université Paris Cité and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF). James T. Lamiell is Professor Emeritus of psychology at Georgetown University, USA.Palgrave Studies in the Theory and History of Psychology,2946-2460PsychologySocial sciencesHistoryPersonalityDifference (Psychology)Educational psychologyPsychology, IndustrialPsychological testsHistory of PsychologyPersonality and Differential PsychologyEducational PsychologyWork and Organizational PsychologyPsychological AssessmentTheoretical PsychologyPsychology.Social sciencesHistory.Personality.Difference (Psychology)Educational psychology.Psychology, Industrial.Psychological tests.History of Psychology.Personality and Differential Psychology.Educational Psychology.Work and Organizational Psychology.Psychological Assessment.Theoretical Psychology.155.2Stern L.
